BYD Sime Motors, the official Malaysian distributor of BYD vehicles, has officially launched the all-new 2026 BYD ATTO 3 at the Sime Motors MotorExpo 2026. The unveiling marks a significant step in Malaysia’s accelerating transition toward electric mobility, while reinforcing BYD’s position as a dominant force in the country’s EV landscape.

The launch arrives at a defining moment for Malaysia’s automotive industry, where electrification is rapidly gaining momentum. BYD’s presence continues to expand through its partnership with BYD Sime Motors, which has played a central role in introducing and scaling the brand locally.

A major highlight of the event is BYD’s achievement as Malaysia’s No.1 EV brand of all time, with more than 32,000 units sold nationwide. This milestone reflects growing consumer confidence in electric mobility and positions BYD as a leader in shaping the country’s EV adoption journey.

The BYD ATTO 3 has long been a cornerstone of BYD’s success in Malaysia, serving as the brand’s first locally introduced model and becoming one of the country’s best-selling electric SUVs.

The 2026 update continues this legacy with improvements in performance, range, and everyday usability. Offered in two variants—Ultra and Premium—the new model is designed to cater to different driving needs while maintaining strong value across both configurations.

The Premium variant leads the lineup with a performance-focused setup, accelerating from 0–100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds. It is powered by a 74.8 kWh BYD Blade Battery, delivering up to 600 km (NEDC) of range and DC fast charging capability of up to 220 kW.

Meanwhile, the Ultra variant features a 60.48 kWh Blade Battery with up to 480 km of range and DC fast charging up to 110 kW, making it a practical option for urban and intercity driving.

Both variants come equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), modern connectivity features, and enhanced safety technologies aimed at improving everyday usability and driver confidence.

The 2026 BYD ATTO 3 is competitively priced to broaden accessibility:

  • Ultra variant: RM125,800
  • Premium variant: RM138,800

Customers can also choose from a range of colour options including Ski White, Atlantis Grey, Harbour Grey, and Cosmos Black.

According to BYD Malaysia Managing Director Jacob Ma, the ATTO 3 has been instrumental in establishing the brand’s foundation in the country, evolving into a top-selling EV SUV with strong consumer demand. He emphasized continuous improvements in refinement, range, and ownership experience driven by collaboration with Sime Motors.

BYD Sime Motors Managing Director Adeline Lew highlighted that the ATTO 3 played a key role in sparking Malaysia’s EV movement when it was first introduced in 2022, and the 2026 version continues that momentum with enhanced practicality and smarter technology tailored to Malaysian drivers.

To enhance ownership value, BYD is offering a limited-time launch package worth up to RM14,000, which includes:

  • Early Bird Overtrade worth RM10,000 (first 500 customers)
  • Choice of a wall charger with standard installation or a 6-year service package

In addition, the vehicle comes with comprehensive warranty coverage:

  • 6-year / 150,000 km vehicle warranty
  • 8-year / 160,000 km battery warranty
  • 8-year / 160,000 km drive unit warranty

Customers will also receive complimentary accessories such as a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) adapter and a Type 2 charging cable.

Beyond the launch, BYD continues to strengthen its aftersales and service infrastructure across Malaysia, supported by 44 sales and marketing points, 25 aftersales facilities, and 12 body and paint centres nationwide. Certified technicians trained under the BYD Academy in Ara Damansara further enhance service quality and reliability.

With a strong 95% parts availability rate and ongoing investments in service capability, the brand aims to ensure a seamless ownership experience as EV adoption grows across the country.

BYD’s Malaysian portfolio continues to expand, offering a wide range of electric models including compact city cars, SUVs, and performance-oriented vehicles. This diversified lineup allows the brand to cater to different consumer segments while reinforcing its position as a full-spectrum EV provider.

The launch of the 2026 BYD ATTO 3 not only refreshes one of Malaysia’s most popular electric SUVs but also underscores BYD’s long-term commitment to shaping the country’s electric mobility ecosystem. With improved performance, stronger technology, and enhanced ownership benefits, the new model is positioned to further accelerate Malaysia’s shift toward a cleaner automotive future.
