BYD Malaysia and Sime Motors are continuing to strengthen the country’s electric vehicle ecosystem with the launch of a new flagship showroom in Penang, while reinforcing their commitment to customer support, aftersales service, and EV talent development nationwide.

The latest addition to the growing BYD network is the newly opened BYD Mansion Macalister, located in the heart of George Town, Penang. Housed within a carefully restored heritage building, the flagship outlet combines Penang’s historic charm with modern electric mobility, creating a premium destination for customers exploring the brand’s expanding EV portfolio.

The official opening ceremony was attended by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Penang State Executive Councillor H’ng Mooi Lye. The event also marked another major milestone for the brand, celebrating its 5,000th BYD owner in Malaysia’s northern region, highlighting the growing acceptance of EVs beyond the Klang Valley.

According to Liu Xueliang, Vice President of BYD Co., Ltd and General Manager of BYD Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division, Malaysia remains an important market in the company’s long-term strategy to accelerate sustainable mobility adoption. He noted that BYD’s investments in advanced EV technologies, local talent development, and product innovation demonstrate the company’s confidence in Malaysia’s electric future.

Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Southeast Asia at Sime Motors, said the company’s focus goes beyond vehicle sales, emphasising the importance of long-term ownership confidence through a strong nationwide support network. He added that the expanding ecosystem of certified technicians, service advisors, and integrated service hubs is helping elevate automotive customer care standards in Malaysia.

Today, BYD Malaysia and Sime Motors operate more than 43 showrooms and over 25 dedicated aftersales centres nationwide, offering customers easier access to vehicle servicing, technical support, and charging facilities. The company also reports a 95 percent aftersales parts fill rate, helping reduce waiting times and improve overall ownership convenience.

Designed as more than a conventional showroom, BYD Mansion Macalister features consultation lounges, digital engagement spaces, personalised customer areas, integrated servicing facilities, and EV charging infrastructure under one roof. The concept aims to create a welcoming and reassuring environment for both new and existing EV owners in the northern region.

In conjunction with the launch, BYD Sime Motors also organised a 360-kilometre media drive from Ara Damansara to Penang, showcasing the long-distance capability, comfort, and efficiency of BYD’s electric vehicle lineup. The road trip included highway stretches and scenic cultural stops, underlining the practicality of EV travel across Malaysia.

Beyond infrastructure expansion, the company continues to invest heavily in training programmes for technicians, sales personnel, and aftersales teams to ensure Malaysian customers receive globally certified EV expertise and reliable support close to home.
