Motul and Ipone have officially rekindled their historic partnership with the YY Pang Racing Team for the 2026 Malaysian Cub Prix Championship. The reunion marks a significant moment in local motorsports, bringing together a collaboration that once defined an entire era of racing excellence in Malaysia.
This renewed alliance sees both brands working closely with the YY Pang Racing Team’s riders and technical crew, united by a shared ambition to compete at the highest level while nurturing future racing talents. The partnership is built on a long-standing philosophy — that champions are shaped through dedication, support, and continuous development.
Ravi Shankar, Country General Manager of Specialty Lubricants Trading (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, highlighted the importance of the reunion, emphasising the brands’ commitment to developing local riders. He noted that the partnership has historically played a crucial role in grooming young Malaysian racers into formidable competitors, and the 2026 season represents a continuation of that mission to elevate talent both locally and internationally.
The YY Pang Racing Team itself carries a rich legacy. Founded by Pang Yok You, a passionate racer who began crafting his own exhaust systems in 1970, the team has evolved from modest beginnings with a Vespa race bike into a dominant force in the Cub Prix scene. Over the years, it has secured multiple championship titles and amassed more than 400 podium finishes, cementing its reputation as one of Malaysia’s most successful racing outfits.
Pang Yok You reflected on the renewed collaboration with optimism, stating that the partnership with Motul and Ipone has long been intertwined with the team’s success. With both brands returning for the 2026 season, the team is confident in its ability to deliver strong performances and continue its winning tradition.
The partnership’s legacy stretches back to 2004, when Motul first joined forces with YY Pang Racing Team, supporting 16 years of competitive success until 2020. In 2021, Ipone stepped in to carry the momentum forward, playing a key role in securing the CP125 overall championship title during a challenging season.
Now, the collaboration enters a new chapter with both brands contributing their latest technological advancements. For the 150cc category, Motul introduces its 300V 4T Factory Line, formulated with ESTER Core® technology to maximise engine performance and durability under intense racing conditions. Meanwhile, Ipone powers the 125cc class with its Shogun range, engineered using 100% PAO and Ester technology to ensure optimal thermal stability and consistent protection from startup to peak revs.
Beyond the racetrack, both brands remain committed to supporting Malaysia’s wider riding community by ensuring their products are readily available through authorised distributors across Peninsular Malaysia. This accessibility reflects their broader mission of promoting performance, reliability, and innovation among everyday riders and motorsports enthusiasts alike.
As the 2026 Malaysian Cub Prix Championship approaches, the reunion of Motul, Ipone, and the YY Pang Racing Team signals more than just a comeback — it represents a renewed push to shape the future of Malaysian motorsports, inspire the next generation, and continue a legacy built on passion, performance, and perseverance.
