PRO-NET has delivered a selection of electric vehicles to the Ministry of Transport (MOT) as part of a government initiative aimed at evaluating electric mobility for official use. The vehicles handed over include the Proton e.MAS 7, Proton e.MAS 5, Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV and the smart #1, giving government stakeholders the opportunity to experience different types of electrified powertrains in real-world operational conditions.

The official handover took place during the “Majlis Penyerahan Kenderaan EV kepada Kementerian Pengangkutan” ceremony at the MOT headquarters in Putrajaya on 11 March 2026. The programme forms part of a broader initiative by the government to study how electric vehicles can be integrated into daily operations across ministries and public sector agencies.

This initiative builds on an earlier launch ceremony held on 26 August 2025, where several automotive brands committed their support to the Ministry’s plan to introduce EVs into its operational evaluation fleet. Through this programme, government personnel will be able to assess the practicality, performance and usability of electric vehicles in real working environments while gaining firsthand experience with the technology.

According to Dato’ Ir Abdul Rashid Musa, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Proton, the collaboration reflects the company’s continued support for the nation’s transition towards sustainable transportation.

He noted that providing vehicles such as the Proton e.MAS 5, e.MAS 7, e.MAS 7 PHEV and smart #1 for the programme allows policymakers and government stakeholders to better understand the capabilities of electric vehicles. Firsthand exposure, he explained, will play a key role in shaping future policies, infrastructure planning and the wider adoption of EV technology across the country.

As Malaysia’s leading EV brand, Proton highlighted its commitment to contributing to the growth of the national electric mobility ecosystem. The inclusion of its latest electrified models in the programme demonstrates the company’s readiness to support government-led initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions and advancing sustainable mobility.

The delivery of these vehicles also underscores PRO-NET’s ongoing collaboration with government agencies and industry partners. By supporting programmes such as this evaluation fleet, the company aims to accelerate Malaysia’s progress toward a low-carbon transportation future while strengthening confidence in electric vehicle technology among key stakeholders.
