As Malaysia’s automotive landscape continues to evolve, drivers are increasingly prioritising safety, efficiency and comfort in their everyday journeys. This shift is closely tied to the rapid rise of electrified vehicles, with data from the Car Fuel Type Summary (2000–2025) showing adoption climbing by more than 300% over the past four years. The trend highlights changing expectations among motorists who now demand products that can keep pace with modern mobility.

In response, Toyo Tyre Sales And Marketing Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. has announced a strategic expansion of its Proxes product line. According to its President and Managing Director, Mr Tan Song Chye, the company plans to introduce three new Proxes tyre models over the next three years, each designed to meet the performance requirements of contemporary vehicles. Leading this initiative is the newly launched Proxes Comfort, marking an important step in Toyo Tires’ long-term roadmap for Malaysia.

Developed in Japan, the all-new Proxes Comfort represents the next generation of Toyo’s luxury comfort tyres. Engineered specifically for modern mobility, it blends advanced design principles with proven technologies to deliver a driving experience focused on safety, stability and long-distance comfort. The tyre is designed to perform reliably across Malaysia’s diverse road surfaces and frequently wet weather conditions.

Proxes Comfort is built around three core qualities valued by Malaysian drivers: strong wet grip, stable cornering, and a smooth, comfortable ride for extended journeys. These attributes are achieved through an advanced tread pattern, optimised contact pressure, and a refined internal structure that work together to enhance overall performance.

At the heart of Proxes Comfort is a sophisticated tread compound combined with a reinforced internal construction. This combination improves speed stability and braking efficiency in both wet and dry environments.

An optimised tyre profile helps reduce stress on the bead and belt edges, allowing the tyre to maintain consistent contact with the road at higher speeds and during cornering. This translates into improved stability during lane changes, sharp turns and long highway drives, even when vehicle loads vary.

To further enhance handling and traction, Toyo Tires has incorporated its Dynamic Taper Design. Unlike conventional groove designs that can cause uneven pressure distribution, this technology allows the grooves to maintain more uniform contact with the road surface. The result is improved block stiffness, more predictable braking, and greater control during sudden stops, heavy rain or stop-and-go traffic.

Compared to its predecessor, the Proxes CF 2, the new Proxes Comfort delivers measurable safety gains, achieving an 8% reduction in dry braking distance and a 13% reduction in wet braking distance.

Proxes Comfort is available in 14 sizes, covering rim diameters from 16 to 19 inches, with additional sizes planned. Most variants carry Extra Load (XL) ratings, making them suitable for the higher weight demands of battery electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Of the current range, 11 sizes are EV-ready and feature top-tier ratings for ride comfort and noise reduction, including EV-optimised noise performance.

Designed primarily for B, C and E segment passenger cars and SUVs, Proxes Comfort caters to drivers who frequently travel long distances and spend extended time on highways. Recommended retail prices range from RM279 to RM698, depending on size.

With the launch of Proxes Comfort, Toyo Tires reinforces its commitment to delivering tyres that balance performance, safety and everyday comfort for Malaysian motorists. The Proxes Comfort range is now available nationwide, and drivers are encouraged to visit their nearest Toyo Tires dealer to experience the difference firsthand.
