PRO-NET has achieved a significant milestone in Malaysia’s electric vehicle (EV) journey with the delivery of 3,276 units of the Proton e.MAS 5 in January 2026 alone. This marks the highest monthly delivery volume ever recorded by PRO-NET for a single model, reinforcing the growing momentum behind the Proton e.MAS brand.
The strong January performance builds on an already landmark year for Proton e.MAS. In 2025, the brand recorded total sales of 9,549 vehicles, accounting for approximately six percent of Proton’s annual sales and capturing an estimated 22 percent share of Malaysia’s EV market. These figures underscore Proton e.MAS’ rapid rise as a key player in the nation’s electrification push.
Launched on 30 October 2025, the Proton e.MAS 5 was positioned as Malaysia’s first truly affordable electric vehicle, with a clear mission to make electrified mobility accessible to everyday Malaysians. Its introduction was preceded by a high-profile showcase at the ASEAN Summit, signalling strong national and regional confidence in Proton’s long-term EV strategy.
Market response was immediate and decisive. Demand for the e.MAS 5 surged from the outset, reflecting a growing readiness among Malaysian consumers to embrace EV ownership when affordability and practicality align.
“The Proton e.MAS 5 has exceeded every expectation since the day it was launched,” said Mr. Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET. “Delivering more than 3,000 units in a single month is a major milestone that highlights both the strength of our product and the increasing confidence in Malaysia’s EV future. We are deeply grateful to Malaysians for their trust, and we are pleased to confirm that the RM3,000 launch price rebate will be maintained.”
Beyond headline delivery numbers, PRO-NET continues to focus on meeting customer expectations through timely deliveries and the ongoing development of a supportive EV ecosystem. According to Mr. Zhang, the company’s goal extends beyond vehicle sales to ensuring a seamless ownership experience that fits modern Malaysian lifestyles.
Designed with everyday usability in mind, the Proton e.MAS 5 combines affordability with a comprehensive electric driving experience. It offers a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 325 kilometres, supported by fast DC charging for added convenience during daily commutes and longer weekend journeys. Inside, the vehicle is equipped with a 14.6-inch FHD display head unit, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-language voice commands in English and Malay, and the Proton e.MAS app with an integrated live charging map.
Practicality remains a key strength, with C-segment interior space, a 375-litre boot, a 70-litre front trunk, and multiple storage solutions that cater well to urban families and first-time EV owners.
Ahead of its market debut, the e.MAS 5 was introduced to Malaysians nationwide through the MISI 5 roadshow, which covered 42 locations across 13 states. The tour provided hands-on exposure to the vehicle while allowing PRO-NET to engage directly with its target audience and better understand the needs of families and consumers new to electric mobility.
Alongside the success of the e.MAS 5, PRO-NET has been accelerating the expansion of its product portfolio. In under two years since the brand’s official launch, three models are now available, including the recently introduced Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV. Priced between an estimated RM110,000 and RM130,000, the e.MAS 7 PHEV is Malaysia’s first dual-powered EV and Proton’s first plug-in hybrid vehicle.
The e.MAS 7 PHEV boasts a combined driving range of up to 1,065 kilometres on a single tank and charge, enabled by Proton’s EM-i Advanced Hybrid Technology. With fuel consumption rated at just 4.3L/100km, the system integrates a hybrid-dedicated engine, an 11-in-1 Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), and a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery into a highly efficient electrified powertrain. Operating on an EV-first philosophy, the vehicle drives as a pure electric for up to 80 percent of the time, with the petrol engine engaging seamlessly when required.
Customers interested in joining Proton’s electrified journey can secure either the Proton e.MAS 5 or the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV with a booking fee of just RM99. Registrations can be made via the Proton e.MAS website or at any of the 48 Proton e.MAS dealerships nationwide.
With record deliveries, an expanding line-up, and a clear focus on affordability and ecosystem development, Proton e.MAS continues to play a pivotal role in shaping Malaysia’s electric mobility future.
