UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) has officially introduced the 2026 Toyota GR Corolla Automatic Transmission (AT) in Malaysia, marking a significant step in making Toyota Gazoo Racing’s high-performance DNA accessible to a broader audience. Designed for enthusiasts who crave motorsport-inspired excitement but prefer the convenience of an automatic, the new variant blends everyday usability with the unmistakable character of a GR performance car.
At the heart of the GR Corolla AT is the newly developed 8-speed GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission (GR-DAT). Engineered through extensive motorsports experience, the gearbox delivers rapid and precise shifts while maintaining smoothness and confidence during daily driving. Combined with the car’s practical five-door hatchback layout, the GR Corolla AT offers thrilling performance in a package that seamlessly fits modern lifestyles.
According to Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor, the GR Corolla has always been about capturing the raw intensity and responsiveness of a race-developed machine. With the introduction of the automatic variant, that experience is now open to more Malaysians, without diluting the core GR identity. The model continues to reward drivers with confidence, excitement, and an engaging connection to the road.
Beyond the launch of the automatic version, UMWT has also rolled out a series of updates across the entire GR Corolla lineup, including the existing manual transmission (MT) model. These enhancements reflect Toyota Gazoo Racing’s philosophy of continuous improvement, incorporating lessons learned from real-world driving and motorsports competition to further refine performance, control, and driver assurance.
Both AT and MT variants now benefit from added safety and technology features, including Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) for improved awareness and a new 10-inch display screen that offers clearer information and a more intuitive interface. These updates ensure that advanced technology supports both spirited driving and everyday comfort.
In Malaysia, the 2026 GR Corolla AT is priced from RM378,950 in Peninsular Malaysia and RM233,500 in Langkawi. The manual version is available from RM368,950 and RM227,300 respectively. As the fourth model in Toyota’s GR Series, the GR Corolla embodies Gazoo Racing’s “build on the track, refine for the road” philosophy, drawing inspiration from Super Taikyu racing, the Japanese Rally Championship, and rigorous testing at Fuji International Speedway.
The introduction of the GR-DAT also expands the driving experience with multiple modes. Drive mode prioritises smooth acceleration and intelligent gear selection, while SPORT mode sharpens throttle response and delivers more aggressive shifts. A sequential-style M-mode enhances driver involvement, complemented by Launch Start Control for confident acceleration from a standstill. Suspension and ABS tuning have also been revised to improve stability, braking, and cornering performance.
Visually, the GR Corolla retains its aggressive, motorsports-inspired design, featuring a wide stance and purposeful aerodynamic enhancements to optimise airflow, cooling, and stability. Its five-door configuration ensures that performance does not come at the expense of everyday practicality.
More than just a high-performance hatchback, the GR Corolla is designed to reignite the joy of driving. It invites seasoned enthusiasts to reconnect with their passion while introducing a new generation to authentic, motorsport-derived performance.
The 2026 GR Corolla AT, along with the updated GR Corolla MT, is now available through selected GR Garage dealerships nationwide, backed by comprehensive aftersales support and Toyota’s renowned quality assurance.
