BYD and DENZA took centre stage at the ParkCity Year-End Light Festival at The Waterfront @ Desa ParkCity, using the vibrant Light the Change Festival as a platform to spark deeper conversations on sustainability, community responsibility, and the future of electric mobility in Malaysia. More than a visual attraction, the showcase highlights the brands’ mission to drive environmental progress through meaningful engagement and innovation.
At the heart of the festival is the global initiative One Degree. One Future, which calls for collective action to cool the Earth by one degree Celsius. BYD and DENZA illustrate how their electric mobility solutions, renewable energy technologies, and sustainability efforts contribute to real-world climate impact. Globally, BYD’s electric innovations have already helped reduce over 9.3 million tonnes of CO₂, showcasing how technology can shift environmental outcomes for the better.
In Malaysia, the impact is growing rapidly. As of November 2025, BYD and DENZA have recorded 12,872 units sold this year—a remarkable 76% increase from the same period in 2024. Cumulative sales have surpassed 25,233 units, marking the rise of a strong and enthusiastic EV community nationwide. These vehicles collectively reduce an estimated 62,191 tonnes of CO₂ annually, equivalent to planting nearly 2.5 million trees. Each EV on the road becomes part of a broader movement driven by informed, conscious choices.
BYD Malaysia Managing Director Eagle Zhao underscores this collective responsibility: “Sustainability is not a far-off goal but a responsibility shared by communities, industries, and individuals. This festival reminds us that progress begins with collective action, and every person who participates becomes part of a growing movement toward a more sustainable future.”
Behind the rapid growth of BYD’s presence is Sime Motors, the brand’s official Malaysian distributor. In just three years, Sime Motors and BYD have launched seven EV models, built 39 sales outlets, 24 aftersales centres, and 12 body & paint facilities, all while surpassing the 25,000-unit sales milestone. The brand’s dedicated training centre and centralised warehouse ensure seamless customer support as demand for electric mobility expands nationwide.
Sime Motors Managing Director Andrew Basham highlights the shared commitment between the companies: “Our partnership reflects Sime’s ESG priorities and BYD’s leadership in EV innovation. We’re not just introducing models—we’re building the infrastructure, talent, and service excellence needed to support a greener mobility future for Malaysia.”
