Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has officially introduced the latest iterations of its most iconic hatchback — the new Golf R-Line and Golf GTI — marking a new chapter in the Golf legacy. Unveiled as the newest additions to Volkswagen’s celebrated lineup, both models bring together sharper design, advanced technology, and enhanced performance, redefining what the Golf family represents for Malaysian drivers.
While the Golf R-Line is currently available for preview, the Golf GTI is now open for booking, retailing from RM249,990 including the Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP). Early adopters can take advantage of a limited-time exclusive price — valid for the first 50 units registered by 31 December 2025.
For decades, the Golf has embodied the perfect balance between everyday usability and pure driving enjoyment. The new Golf R-Line and GTI continue that heritage — each engineered to deliver a driving experience that’s both refined and exhilarating.
The Golf R-Line, inspired by Volkswagen’s high-performance “R” models, offers a sporty aesthetic and a spirited drive without compromising comfort or efficiency. Meanwhile, the Golf GTI remains the ultimate “hot hatch” — blending turbocharged power with everyday practicality and unmistakable style.

Locally assembled at the Volkswagen plant in Pekan, both the Golf R-Line and GTI sport refined aerodynamics and sleek, modern styling. The new front bumper, illuminated Volkswagen logo — a first for Malaysia — and IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights redefine sophistication. At the rear, redesigned IQ.LIGHT 3D LED taillights with dynamic turn signals complete the premium aesthetic.
The Golf R-Line exudes subtle athleticism with its R-Line front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and 17-inch “Coventry” alloy wheels, while the Golf GTI turns up the heat with its signature honeycomb grille, red accents, dual chrome exhaust tips, and 18-inch “Richmond” alloys.
Inside, both models feature a tech-forward cabin that perfectly blends sportiness with innovation. The 12.9-inch MIB4 infotainment system offers a faster and more intuitive interface with built-in navigation, complemented by the 10-inch Digital Cockpit Pro for a fully customisable driving display.
Enhanced comfort features include the 3-zone Air Care Climatronic climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice-controlled IDA assistant, and wireless charging. The multifunction leather sports steering wheel — heated and tactile — underscores Volkswagen’s attention to driver ergonomics.
Equipped with the latest IQ.DRIVE suite, the new Golf models offer comprehensive safety and driver assistance systems, including:
- Front Assist with Pedestrian and Cyclist Monitoring
- Travel Assist with Adaptive Cruise Control
- Rear Traffic Alert and Exit Warning
- Driver Attention Detection
- Park Distance Control and Lane Assist

Under the hood, the Golf R-Line features a 1.5L eTSI mild-hybrid turbocharged engine, producing 150 PS and 250 Nm, paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission. It sprints from 0–100 km/h in 8.6 seconds while maintaining excellent efficiency at 5.2L/100 km.
The Golf GTI, on the other hand, delivers 265 PS from its 2.0L TSI turbocharged petrol engine, an increase of 20 PS from its predecessor. Matched with Volkswagen’s 7-speed DSG, it delivers precision handling and thrilling acceleration — designed for those who crave performance on every drive.
Inside, the GTI features premium Vienna leather sport seats, GTI brushed stainless steel pedals, and a Harman Kardon sound system with nine speakers and a subwoofer, delivering a 480-watt immersive audio experience. A Head-Up Display further enhances driver focus by projecting key information onto the windshield.
Both the Golf R-Line and GTI are offered in five bold colourways — Oryx White, Moonstone Grey, Grenadilla Black, Kings Red, and Anemone Blue — each bringing its own flair to the Golf’s timeless design.
