Proton has taken a bold step forward in its electrification journey with the official launch of the Proton e.MAS 5, Malaysia’s first affordable electric vehicle (EV) under the Proton e.MAS brand. Designed to bring sustainable mobility within reach of every Malaysian, the e.MAS 5 combines practicality, advanced technology, and everyday usability for first-time EV buyers.

The launch event, held at Sentul Depot, followed the vehicle’s first public showcase at the ASEAN Summit on 28 October, attended by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Chinese Premier Li Qiang. The ceremony was graced by prominent figures, including Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar, Chairman of Proton, and Mr. Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET, alongside representatives from DRB-HICOM, Geely Auto Group, and multiple government agencies.

Since bookings opened on 4 October, the Proton e.MAS 5 has already recorded over 5,000 orders nationwide, reflecting strong public interest in affordable EV ownership. Its predecessor, the Proton e.MAS 7, has firmly established itself as Malaysia’s leading EV for nine consecutive months, with cumulative sales of 6,655 units and a 24% share of the national EV market.

The Proton e.MAS 5 is a B-segment vehicle that offers C-segment spaciousness, making it ideal for urban commuters and small families. It features a WLTP range of up to 325 km, ensuring that daily drives, errands, and weekend trips are stress-free on a single charge. Its 85 kW rear-mounted motor produces 150 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0–50 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, while its best-in-class 4.95 m turning radius makes city driving and parking effortless.

The e.MAS 5 is equipped with a 14.6-inch Full HD display head unit and an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel powered by ATLAS Auto, enabling voice commands in both English and Bahasa Melayu. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay come standard, and the Proton e.MAS App allows remote access to key functions such as battery status and pre-cooling. Fast DC charging replenishes the battery from 30% to 80% in just 21 minutes, providing convenience for busy urban drivers.

The cabin exudes minimalist sophistication, available in Flint Grey for standard exterior colors Moonstone White, Graphite Silver, and Slate Grey. Premium variants feature Marble Cream or Quartz Rose paired with an Alabaster White interior. Ergonomic seating, a flat rear floor, and 32 storage compartments—including a 70L frunk and 375L expandable boot—offer exceptional comfort and practicality for families.

Safety remains central to PRO-NET’s philosophy. The e.MAS 5 comes with 12 advanced driver-assistance systems, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Blind Spot Detection. Its Star Armor Cage Structure and CATL LFP battery provide multi-layered protection for thermal safety and long-term reliability.

To celebrate the launch, PRO-NET is offering early buyers exclusive rebates of up to RM8,000 across five “Power Packs,” including trade-in rebates, home chargers, financing deals, and unlimited internet data for five years. The special launch prices start from RM56,800 for the Proton e.MAS 5 Prime and RM69,800 for the Premium variant, with comprehensive 6-year vehicle and 8-year high-voltage battery warranties.
