The energy was electric as the inaugural OMODA I JAECOO Technical Skills Competition set the stage for Malaysia’s finest automotive talents to showcase their expertise. More than 132 technical specialists from 48 dealerships nationwide participated in the competition, united by a shared mission—delivering world-class service and technical excellence to OMODA I JAECOO customers.
After months of preparation and rigorous selection, the competition reached an exhilarating finale with 10 outstanding finalists vying for top honors. The event celebrated not only skill but also passion and precision, hallmarks of the brand’s customer-first philosophy.
“The spirit of the OMODA I JAECOO Skills Competition represents our culture of excellence and the genuine care we have for our customers throughout the ownership journey,” said Emily Lek, Vice President of OMODA I JAECOO Malaysia. “This shared goal of upholding world-class technical standards and customer satisfaction across the network is what drives the brand’s success for the long-term here in Malaysia.”
The spotlight of the evening shone on Wong Sau Seng from Gagner Auto Sdn Bhd, who earned the prestigious title of National Champion. His journey to the top was driven by dedication and teamwork. “This was made possible by the strong support from my company and the guidance of my manager and superior, who encouraged me to keep improving myself,” Wong shared.
Next, Wong will carry the Malaysian flag to China in October, where he will compete in the OMODA I JAECOO World Skills Competition, representing the nation on the global stage. “It’s a great honour to showcase our skills internationally,” he added.
The first runner-up title went to Ng Chen Ton from CarShen Sdn Bhd, while second runner-up was awarded to Syasya Mazdiana Binti Nor Azman from Anggerik Auto Sdn Bhd. Syasya’s achievement holds special significance—she was the sole female finalist, breaking barriers in a traditionally male-dominated field.
“Being the only female technician in the finale is an honour that shows women can stand equal with men in the technical field. Never doubt your potential,” Syasya said, inspiring more women to pursue careers in automotive technology.
Competitors underwent a stringent evaluation process, comprising theory (30%) and practical (70%) assessments. The theoretical segment tested their knowledge of OMODA I JAECOO product specifications, diagnostics, and service processes, while the practical challenge put their real-world troubleshooting skills to the test under strict time constraints.
The judging panel, consisting of seasoned experts from the Chery Malaysia Technical team, assessed participants on accuracy, diagnostic processes, repair quality, and time management. The competition venue, D Champion Auto Sdn Bhd in Klang, provided a state-of-the-art backdrop for this landmark event.
This initiative underscores OMODA I JAECOO’s dedication to building a skilled workforce that enhances the customer ownership experience. By fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical mastery, the brand reaffirms its commitment to excellence in Malaysia’s automotive landscape.
