At the opening round of the Gran Turismo World Series 2025, a groundbreaking collaboration between Xiaomi and Polyphony Digital was unveiled — one that propels Xiaomi’s flagship electric vehicle, the SU7 Ultra, into the virtual racing universe of Gran Turismo 7 for PlayStation 4 and 5.
This milestone marks the first appearance of a Xiaomi model in the iconic Gran Turismo franchise, underscoring the brand’s accelerating presence in the automotive world. Known globally for its hyper-realistic simulation and engineering accuracy, Gran Turismo serves as more than just a game — it’s a proving ground for cutting-edge automotive innovation. The inclusion of the SU7 Ultra reflects a growing recognition of smart high-performance EVs in both real-world and virtual motorsport arenas.
The collaboration was cemented in May 2025 during a meeting in Beijing between Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi and Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun. Yamauchi experienced the SU7 Ultra firsthand through an immersive test drive and a tour of Xiaomi’s advanced EV manufacturing facility in Yizhuang.
“We are delighted to begin this partnership with Xiaomi,” said Yamauchi. “The SU7 Ultra represents not just a triumph of engineering, but a vision — one that aligns with our core philosophy at Gran Turismo: a relentless pursuit of performance, passion, and progress.”
Echoing this sentiment, Lei Jun remarked, “Mr. Yamauchi’s vision of building a better society through technology deeply resonates with Xiaomi’s mission. Our shared values made this partnership not only possible, but natural.”
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra stands at the pinnacle of Xiaomi’s “Human x Car x Home” smart ecosystem, which was completed in 2024. Powered by Xiaomi’s proprietary HyperEngine V8s — a tri-motor system pushing 1,548 PS and achieving a staggering 0–100 km/h acceleration in just 1.98 seconds — the vehicle boasts performance stats that rival supercars. A top speed over 350 km/h and a record-breaking lap time at Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife cement its elite status in the EV segment.
Built with meticulous attention to weight distribution, carbon fiber integration, and luxury design, the SU7 Ultra merges high-performance engineering with elegant craftsmanship. Xiaomi’s EV R&D team rigorously tests features like torque vectoring and adaptive damping at world-class circuits, ensuring that each innovation is grounded in real-world performance and safety.
Chief Test Driver Zhoucan Ren emphasized the team’s ongoing commitment to excellence: “Our presence at the Nürburgring is more than symbolic — it’s where we continuously refine, test, and validate technologies that elevate our vehicles beyond industry standards.”
Gran Turismo 7 will feature the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra through a collaborative development process, replicating the vehicle’s design and performance with stunning accuracy. This debut paves the way for an even more ambitious endeavor: the future development of the Xiaomi VISION GRAN TURISMO concept car — a visionary EV tailored exclusively for the digital racetrack.
With this historic partnership, Xiaomi and Gran Turismo are not just bridging the gap between reality and simulation — they are redefining it, steering the automotive and gaming industries into an electrified future.
