MG Motor Malaysia has officially launched the all-new MGS5 EV, making a strong statement in the B-segment electric SUV market with a combination of competitive pricing, cutting-edge technology, and practical design. Offered in two trim levels – COM and LUX – and across two battery capacities, the MGS5 EV starts at RM115,900 for the base 49kWh COM variant. The 62kWh COM Long Range is priced at RM125,900, while the fully-loaded 62kWh LUX Long Range tops the range at RM135,900.
As part of its first anniversary celebration and launch campaign, MG Motor Malaysia is offering a limited-time early access deal for the first 500 buyers, slashing RM6,000 off the retail price. This brings the entry price down to just RM109,900 for the 49kWh COM variant. Eligible buyers will also receive a complimentary 7kW Wallbox AC home charger, making EV ownership even more convenient.
According to Emory QiFeng, Managing Director of SAIC Motor Malaysia, the MGS5 EV is “one of the best value propositions in the electric SUV segment,” delivering not only affordability but also advanced EV features, ample space, and premium design without compromise.
The MGS5 EV COM variant is available with either a 49kWh battery (up to 340km WLTP range) or a 62kWh battery (up to 430km WLTP range). The LUX variant comes exclusively with the larger 62kWh battery, offering the same 430km range. All variants are powered by a Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) setup delivering 170PS and 250Nm of torque, a unique offering in its class. AC charging at 7kW is standard, while the LUX variant supports DC fast charging up to 150kW, enabling a 10–80% charge in just 26 minutes.
The LUX trim also steps up the comfort and tech game with 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, leather-fabric seats with perforated MG logos, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging pad, a powered tailgate, and a 360-degree camera system.
Across all trims, the MGS5 EV is equipped with a suite of modern features, including LED headlamps with Racing Flag-themed DRLs, MG’s signature Arch Taillights, a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen with voice command, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and MG’s iSMART connectivity system.
Practicality shines with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability and up to 1,441 litres of boot space, including the underfloor compartment. Safety and durability are enhanced by an ultra-thin Horizontal Battery Layout and an adaptive pressure control system that extends battery life and stability.
The MGS5 EV comes with an extensive warranty package:
