Kia Sales Malaysia (KSM) has introduced a new addition to its popular MPV line-up with the launch of the Kia Carnival 8-seater, a model designed to meet the growing demand for flexibility, practicality, and premium comfort among Malaysian buyers.

This latest variant strengthens the Carnival range by offering a well-balanced option between the existing 11-seater and range-topping 7-seater models. According to KSM President and CEO Hyung Ho Kim, the introduction reflects the brand’s commitment to evolving alongside customer needs while leveraging local assembly capabilities and Malaysia’s automotive supply chain.

Managing Director Emily Lek highlighted that the new 8-seater brings added versatility without sacrificing comfort, making it ideal for large families, corporate users, and fleet operators. It also responds directly to customer feedback, combining the practicality of an SUV with the spaciousness of a premium MPV.

Locally assembled in Kulim, Kedah, the Kia Carnival 8-seater is priced at RM238,888 (excluding insurance and road tax for Peninsular Malaysia). This places it neatly between the RM188,888 11-seater and the RM248,888 7-seater variant, offering a compelling mix of value and features.

Ownership is further enhanced with a 5-year or 150,000 km warranty. Buyers can also benefit from promotional offers such as a competitive 1.98% financing rate for up to nine years or RM6,000 in fuel credits via the ‘We Fuel You’ initiative.

In terms of running costs, the Carnival stands out as one of the most cost-efficient large MPVs in Malaysia, with scheduled maintenance intervals of 10,000 km or 12 months. Over five years, maintenance costs can be as low as approximately RM3,600.

Inside, the 8-seater adopts a practical 2-3-3 seating layout wrapped in soft leatherette upholstery. The second row is highly configurable, featuring a 40:20:40 split with detachable and sliding seats. Unique to this configuration, the middle seat can face forward or backward, while outer seats can be repositioned to suit different travel needs—ideal for both family outings and executive transport.

The third row offers a 60:40 split with pop-up and sinking functionality, allowing seamless transitions between passenger and cargo space.

Despite the added seating capacity, the cabin retains the generous legroom and headroom found in the 7-seater variant. Premium touches include ambient lighting across the dashboard, a curved panoramic display integrating dual 12.3-inch screens, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system for an immersive in-car experience.

Under the hood, the Kia Carnival 8-seater is powered by a 2.2-litre Smartstream turbodiesel engine producing 202 PS and 440 Nm of torque. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the powertrain delivers smooth and efficient performance.

With a fuel consumption figure of 6.5L/100 km (WLTP), the MPV can achieve a driving range of over 900 km on a full tank under optimal conditions—making it a dependable companion for long-distance travel.

Safety remains a key priority, with the 8-seater equipped with eight airbags, including a centre-side airbag, along with a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). These include features such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Highway Drive Assist 2, ensuring peace of mind for both drivers and passengers.

Beyond the vehicle itself, KSM enhances the ownership journey through its Kia Cares insurance programme, offering benefits like agreed value coverage, fast claim approvals, and no excess for selected cases.

With its blend of practicality, premium features, and cost efficiency, the Kia Carnival 8-seater emerges as a strong contender in Malaysia’s large MPV segment—catering to those who need space, flexibility, and comfort without compromise.
