Malaysia’s Wing Hin Motorsports is stepping onto a bigger stage in 2026, marking a significant expansion into regional motorsports with an ambitious two-pronged campaign in Japan. The team will make its debut in the prestigious Eneos Super Taikyu Series while simultaneously defending its title in the competitive Toyota GAZOO Racing GR86/BRZ Cup.
The new season begins with a milestone moment as Wing Hin Motorsports enters the Eneos Super Taikyu Series for the first time. The opening round, set for 21–22 March at Mobility Resort Motegi, will feature two four-hour endurance races. Representing the team in a Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 are Malaysian drivers Naquib Azlan and Amer Harris, joined by seasoned Japanese racer Shuji Maeshima.
This move into endurance racing reflects the team’s growing confidence following a successful 2025 season. Naquib clinched the overall title in the GR86/BRZ Cup Clubman Series during the team’s debut year, while Amer secured a strong fourth-place finish. The team also gained valuable international experience at the Nürburgring Langstrecken Series, further reinforcing its readiness for the challenges of Super Taikyu.
Team Principal William Loh highlighted that the expansion is part of a broader vision to nurture and elevate young Asian racing talent. By competing in Japan, the team aims to create a sustainable pathway for drivers to progress through the ranks of international motorsports.
The 2026 Super Taikyu calendar will test both endurance and consistency across seven demanding rounds held at iconic Japanese circuits. These include Suzuka, Fuji Speedway—where a grueling 24-hour race awaits—Sportsland Sugo, Autopolis, and Okayama. The season will conclude with a return to Fuji for a final four-hour showdown.
Guiding the team’s Japanese campaign is advisor Masahiro Sasaki, whose experience as a Toyota GAZOO Racing driver and competitor in events such as the Nürburgring 24 Hours and Super GT brings invaluable expertise. Sasaki has already played a key role in mentoring the team’s Malaysian drivers during their earlier campaigns in Japan.
Alongside its endurance debut, Wing Hin Motorsports is also returning to the Toyota GAZOO Racing GR86/BRZ Cup with strong intent. Malaysian driver Mitchell Cheah will lead the charge as the team defends its championship title. Cheah’s impressive track record includes a GT4 class championship in Thailand’s TSS The Super Series and multiple podium finishes in endurance competitions across Southeast Asia.
The GR86/BRZ Cup season will span seven rounds, kicking off in April at Autopolis and concluding in November at Motegi. The series promises intense competition across circuits such as Sportsland Sugo, Okayama, Tokachi Speedway, Fuji Speedway, and Suzuka.
In addition to its main entries, the team is expanding its reach through its Customer Racing Program. This initiative will support young Indonesian driver Jordan Johan, who will compete in a second GR86 entry under the banner of Toyota GAZOO Racing Indonesia. The program provides a comprehensive package, including race cars, technical expertise, and operational support, aimed at lowering barriers to entry and accelerating driver development.
Wing Hin Motorsports is also embracing sustainability in 2026 with a bold technical initiative. For the first time, the team will use a newly developed engine oil made from Re-Refined Base Oil (RRBO), produced by recycling used engine oil. Developed by long-time partner Moty’s and supplied by Malaysian re-refinery leader Pentas Flora, the environmentally conscious lubricant will be tested under the extreme conditions of motorsports competition.
By combining competitive ambition, talent development, and sustainable innovation, Wing Hin Motorsports is positioning itself as a rising force not just in Malaysia, but across the Asian motorsports landscape. The 2026 season represents more than just a racing campaign—it signals the team’s long-term commitment to growth, excellence, and opportunity on the international stage.
