Malaysia’s electrified mobility movement is gaining serious traction as PRO-NET reports a powerful start to 2026 for the Proton e.MAS brand. In February alone, total sales reached 1,928 units, pushing the Year-to-Date (YTD) tally to 5,219 units, including exports. At the heart of this success is the e.MAS 5, which accounted for 1,562 units in February, reinforcing its position as one of the country’s most sought-after electrified vehicles.

In just two months since its introduction, the Proton e.MAS 5 has surpassed 5,000 deliveries — a milestone unmatched by any EV brand in Malaysia within a comparable timeframe. The model not only emerged as the No.1 EV for February and YTD but also climbed to No.5 among all vehicle models nationwide, competing directly with long-established internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.

This rapid uptake signals a clear shift in consumer mindset. More than 5,000 Malaysians have now embraced the e.MAS 5 as their everyday electric vehicle, attracted by its practicality, affordability and ease of ownership.

According to Mr Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET, the strong performance underscores the growing acceptance of electrified mobility among Malaysian drivers. He noted that surpassing 5,000 deliveries in two months — alongside more than 3,500 bookings for the e.MAS 7 PHEV within just six weeks — validates the company’s strategy of delivering value-driven electrification solutions tailored specifically for the local market.

Beyond sales figures, the success of the e.MAS brand reflects rising confidence in the broader EV ecosystem. Customers are increasingly drawn to the complete ownership experience, which includes improved charging accessibility, comprehensive aftersales support and digital integration that simplifies daily use.

Designed with Malaysian lifestyles in mind, the e.MAS 5 strikes a balance between distinctive styling, practical space and cost efficiency. Positioned as an ideal second household vehicle, it offers families a way to cut fuel dependency while benefiting from lower running costs and everyday usability.

While the fully electric e.MAS 5 dominates the EV segment, the newly introduced Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV is carving out its own success story. Within one and a half months of launch, the model has already secured over 3,500 bookings — a strong indicator of market confidence.

Targeted at drivers seeking a gradual transition from conventional ICE vehicles, the e.MAS 7 PHEV combines advanced safety technologies with intelligent EM-i hybrid technology. It delivers the flexibility of a traditional engine platform while enabling meaningful fuel savings and reduced emissions.

Positioned as one of Malaysia’s most affordable plug-in hybrids, the e.MAS 7 PHEV starts from RM105,800 (Prime variant), RM119,800 (Premium) and RM125,800 (Premium Plus), on-the-road without insurance. These prices include a RM4,000 launch rebate for the first 5,000 customers, enhancing its appeal as an accessible entry point into hybrid mobility.

Encouraged by its strong early-year performance, Proton e.MAS remains focused on maintaining growth while supporting Malaysia’s broader electrification ambitions. By combining competitive pricing, practical innovation and a supportive ownership ecosystem, the brand is positioning itself as a key player in the country’s evolving automotive landscape.

With demand accelerating and thousands of Malaysians already making the switch, Proton e.MAS appears well on track to shape the next chapter of accessible electrified mobility in 2026 and beyond.
