UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) began 2026 with a stable performance, registering 4,700 vehicle deliveries in January despite an increasingly competitive market landscape. The result reflects sustained demand across Toyota’s key segments in Malaysia, supported by a diverse and well-established product portfolio that continues to resonate with a broad customer base.
The encouraging start highlights Toyota’s long-standing presence in the country, built on consistency and a focus on long-term ownership value rather than short-term market fluctuations. Guided by its “Best in Town” philosophy, UMWT remains committed to delivering a dependable ownership experience through quality vehicles, extensive nationwide support, and trusted aftersales services that reinforce customer confidence.
Commenting on the festive season, Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor, noted that Chinese New Year is a period closely associated with travel and family reunions. He emphasised that peace of mind on the road becomes even more important during this time, underlining Toyota’s focus on engineering reliability and dependable support so families can travel safely and focus on what matters most.
Toyota’s product strategy continues to evolve under its Multipathway approach, which aims to broaden mobility solutions without excluding customers at different stages of adoption. Recent introductions such as the GR Corolla with automatic transmission have made performance-oriented driving more accessible, while the launch of the Vios Hybrid Electric marks a significant step in bringing electrified mobility to one of Malaysia’s most familiar and widely owned models. Further additions to Toyota’s mobility technologies are planned as the year progresses.
Supporting this transition is UMWT’s investment in a local hybrid battery assembly facility at its Bukit Raja plant. With an annual capacity of up to 30,000 hybrid battery units, the facility enhances supply resilience and enables the scalable growth of hybrid vehicle adoption, ensuring electrified mobility can be supported by local manufacturing capability.
Beyond product expansion, UMWT has also reinforced its ownership proposition. The introduction of the Toyota Extend programme in December 2025 offers eligible customers extended warranty coverage beyond the standard period, providing added long-term assurance and supporting vehicle value retention through authorised Toyota Service Centres nationwide.
In conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations, UMW Toyota Motor is rolling out festive promotions across selected models. These offers include benefits of up to RM9,500 and monthly instalments starting from RM658, giving customers greater flexibility as they plan for the year ahead. Affordability is further enhanced through the Toyota Service Savers programme, which provides cost-effective maintenance packages from as low as RM33 per month.
With a steady start to 2026, continued investment in technology, and a strong focus on customer support, UMW Toyota Motor is positioning itself to maintain relevance and trust as Malaysia’s automotive landscape continues to evolve.
