Dongfeng Motor Corporation has taken a significant step forward in Malaysia’s electric vehicle landscape with the debut of two all-new models — the Dongfeng 007 electric sedan and the Dongfeng VIGO electric SUV. This expansion signals a new chapter for the brand in Malaysia, driven by a partnership between Volt Auto and Central Auto Distributors Bhd, and aligned with the country’s rapidly growing appetite for electric mobility.

Designed to meet the needs of modern drivers, both models blend intelligent technology, everyday practicality, and lifestyle-focused design. To strengthen buyer confidence, Dongfeng is also rolling out an extended ownership package for both vehicles, which includes a complimentary ABB wall box, a six-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, and an eight-year unlimited mileage powertrain warranty.

Headlining Dongfeng’s latest offensive is the Dongfeng 007, a next-generation electric sedan aimed at drivers who prioritise performance, technology, and bold aesthetics. Its sleek liftback profile and futuristic styling embody Dongfeng’s vision for a modern electric sedan that feels equally at home in dense urban environments and on open highways.

Engineered for dynamic city driving, the 007 delivers rapid acceleration, an impressive driving range, and ultra-fast charging capability. The model has already generated strong regional buzz following its high-profile launch in Singapore, where it was positioned as a lifestyle-forward electric sedan that merges cutting-edge mobility with contemporary design sensibilities. Its arrival in Malaysia underlines Dongfeng’s ambition to compete in the premium electric sedan segment.

Expected to be priced from RM161,000 after a special launch discount of RM8,888, the Dongfeng 007 offers standout specifications, including a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 3.9 seconds, a driving range of up to 650 km, and fast charging that can replenish the battery to 80% in as little as 11 minutes. Enhancing the experience further are features such as a WANOS premium 19-speaker surround sound system with headrest audio and an electric liftback design that adds everyday versatility.

Joining the 007 is the Dongfeng VIGO, an electric SUV developed with families, active lifestyles, and daily usability in mind. Despite its compact footprint, the VIGO offers impressive interior space, thanks to a 2,715 mm wheelbase and a class-leading usable space ratio. Storage is generous, with a 500-litre boot complemented by a 72-litre hidden compartment.

One of the VIGO’s most distinctive features is its innovative “Heaven and Earth Gate” split tailgate, which can support loads of up to 150 kg. This clever design transforms the rear of the SUV into a functional platform for outdoor activities, camping, or casual gatherings, reinforcing its lifestyle-oriented character.

Pricing is expected to start from RM100,000 after the same RM8,888 launch discount.

To celebrate its Malaysian entry, Dongfeng is also introducing a nationwide Dongfeng Ambassador Search. Open to Malaysians from all backgrounds, the initiative aims to find three brand ambassadors who will represent Dongfeng’s vision of real-world electric mobility.
