TQ WULING has officially begun local assembly of the TQ WULING Bingo EV in Malaysia, marking a major step in the brand’s long-term commitment to the local automotive industry and the country’s expanding electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. The move signals growing confidence in Malaysia as both a key market and a strategic production base for affordable electric mobility.
The Bingo EV is now being assembled at Tan Chong Group’s manufacturing facility in Segambut, a plant known for its strong automotive manufacturing heritage and internationally recognised quality standards, including ISO certifications. This collaboration combines SAIC-GM-Wuling’s (SGMW) global EV expertise with Tan Chong’s decades of local manufacturing experience, ensuring vehicles that meet international benchmarks while being tailored to Malaysian driving conditions and consumer expectations.
To support a smooth rollout, TQ WULING is implementing a phased production strategy. This flexible approach allows output to scale progressively in line with market demand, ensuring supply stability, consistent build quality and operational efficiency as local assembly operations mature.
Notably, the TQ WULING Bingo EV is the first electric vehicle to be locally assembled at the Tan Chong Assembly Plant. Strategically priced to widen access to EV ownership, the Bingo EV places a strong emphasis on safety. It sets a segment benchmark as the first model in its class to offer six airbags, while its body structure incorporates 1,500 MPa ultra-high-tensile steel to enhance rigidity and improve occupant protection through more effective impact absorption.
The Bingo EV is offered in two variants: the Bingo PRO, priced at RM67,800, and the Bingo MAX at RM72,800. To mark the start of local assembly, TQ WULING is introducing Bingo’s Fabulous 5 Perks, which include a RM5,000 cash rebate. This brings the on-the-road prices down to RM62,800 for the Bingo PRO and RM67,800 for the Bingo MAX, positioning the model among the most affordable EVs available in Malaysia.
Early adopters stand to gain even more. The first 500 customers will receive benefits worth up to RM12,000, including the cash rebate, comprehensive battery and drive motor warranties, low monthly instalments from RM625, a complimentary 7kW home EV charger, a portable 3-pin charger, TQ premium solar tinting, and 17 comprehensive insurance benefits with special EV coverage. Bookings can be made with a minimal RM50 fee via the official TQ WULING website, authorised showrooms or roadshows nationwide.
Beyond competitive pricing, local assembly delivers tangible benefits to Malaysian consumers. These include improved affordability, shorter delivery times, stronger localisation to suit local conditions, and dependable aftersales support backed by domestic manufacturing and service capabilities. At the same time, the initiative aligns with the Government’s EV adoption and industrialisation goals by strengthening local supply chains and developing skilled automotive talent.
According to Wan Wei Sun, Head of Business at TQ Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, the commencement of local assembly represents more than just the launch of a new model. It reflects a long-term investment in Malaysia, combining global EV technology with local manufacturing expertise to build trust, support the local ecosystem and drive sustainable growth.
Designed with urban living in mind, the TQ WULING Bingo EV blends compact dimensions with a retro-inspired yet modern design. The Bingo PRO offers a driving range of up to 333km (CLTC), while the Bingo MAX extends this to up to 410km (CLTC), making both variants well-suited for daily city use. Practicality is a key highlight, with 15 interior storage compartments and a flexible boot capacity of up to 1,240 litres when the rear seats are folded.
Inside, the cabin features a distinctive “floating-island” centre console and dashboard layout, anchored by dual 10.25-inch displays for instrumentation and infotainment. Exterior colour options include Milky White, Neon Blue and Lavender Purple, all paired with a contrasting black roof for a youthful and contemporary look.
Powering the Bingo EV is Wuling’s proprietary MAGIC EV Battery, developed with safety as its core focus. Engineered under ultra-high safety standards, the battery system features reinforced construction, advanced thermal management and comprehensive electrical protection. It has undergone extensive testing under extreme conditions, including impact, fire, water immersion and thermal stress. With more than three million Wuling EVs sold globally and zero recorded incidents of fire or explosion, the MAGIC Battery has a proven real-world safety record. An IP68 rating further ensures protection against dust and water, providing reassurance in challenging conditions.
Ownership peace of mind is further enhanced through comprehensive warranty coverage, including an eight-year or 120,000km EV battery warranty, an eight-year or 160,000km drive motor warranty, and a five-year or 150,000km vehicle warranty, whichever comes first. Customers are supported by six dedicated TQ WULING showrooms across Peninsular Malaysia and seven aftersales centres via TCMH’s established service network, with more outlets planned in the coming months.
With local assembly now underway, TQ WULING reinforces its commitment to supporting Malaysia’s transition towards cleaner, smarter and more sustainable mobility—while delivering an electric vehicle designed for everyday urban life and accessible to a broader range of Malaysians.
