Motul has taken its long-standing motorsport commitment to the next level by becoming the official lubricants partner of McLaren Endurance Racing, further expanding its collaboration with the McLaren Racing family following the partnership with McLaren’s Formula 1 team announced last year.

Under the new agreement, Motul will supply advanced lubricant solutions to support the McLaren United Autosports WEC Hypercar Team, covering critical components such as the engine, transmission and differential. Beyond product supply, the partnership also includes close technical collaboration as McLaren Endurance Racing prepares for its highly anticipated debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2027.

James Barclay, Team Principal of McLaren Endurance Racing, described the partnership as a significant step forward for the programme. He noted that welcoming Motul strengthens the team’s preparations for the Hypercar challenge ahead, highlighting the brand’s deep expertise in performance, technology and innovation. With endurance racing demanding precision in every detail, Barclay emphasised that Motul’s involvement adds valuable momentum as McLaren builds towards its return to top-level endurance competition.

From Motul’s perspective, the collaboration represents a natural extension of its endurance racing philosophy. Julien Plet, Head of Research and Development at Motul, explained that endurance racing is defined by the ability to sustain performance under relentless mechanical stress over extended periods. Working alongside McLaren Endurance Racing allows Motul to co-develop bespoke fluid solutions focused on consistency, durability and reliability, qualities that are essential to success in endurance racing.

Motul’s credentials in endurance motorsport are deeply rooted. A partner of the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans since the 1950s, the brand has played a key role in the race’s storied history and has supported numerous teams over the decades. This commitment was further reinforced in 2016 when Motul was appointed the official lubricants partner of the FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, cementing its position at the pinnacle of endurance racing.

Drawing on decades of racing experience, Motul specialises in developing tailor-made fluid solutions designed to deliver long-term reliability and performance in the most demanding conditions. Its endurance expertise also extends beyond circuit racing, with a strong presence in extreme long-distance events such as the Dakar Rally. This wealth of endurance-proven know-how will now directly benefit McLaren Endurance Racing, as Motul applies its technical heritage and R&D capabilities to the Hypercar programme.
