Despite a challenging year for diesel-powered vehicles in Malaysia, Isuzu Malaysia closed 2025 on a strong note, demonstrating resilience and customer confidence in its products. While the commercial vehicle sector contracted by 11.4 percent and the pick-up truck market declined by 7.3 percent following revisions to diesel pricing policies, Isuzu managed to hold steady and, in several areas, outperform the broader market.
The brand’s truck division delivered a standout performance, achieving its highest-ever market share of 56.1 percent with 6,880 units registered. This marks a significant improvement over its previous record of 47.1 percent in 2023, underscoring Isuzu’s continued dominance in the commercial vehicle space. The achievement reflects sustained trust from customers who value dependable operations, predictable journey performance, and a strong emphasis on safety and comfort.
Isuzu’s success extended to the pick-up segment as well. The Isuzu D-Max recorded impressive results, securing a solid 15 percent share of the pick-up truck market and elevating the brand to an overall No.2 position nationwide. This milestone highlights the growing recognition of the D-Max as a dependable and value-driven choice for both commercial users and private owners.
According to Isuzu Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Tomoyuki Yamaguchi, the company’s performance is rooted in its ability to understand and respond to customer needs. He noted that Isuzu’s long-standing focus on delivering products that fully meet operational and ownership requirements has been central to its continued popularity in Malaysia. Equally important, he added, is a well-established dealership network that has adapted quickly to changing market demands, supported by a robust after-sales system designed to minimise downtime and keep customers on the move.
Among Isuzu’s strongest performers is the Isuzu Elf. The light-duty truck once again cemented its position as Malaysia’s most popular truck, marking an extraordinary 16th consecutive year at the top. With 6,362 units registered in 2025, the Elf accounted for 92.5 percent of all trucks sold, thanks to its combination of compact dimensions, manoeuvrability and impressive payload capabilities.
The medium-duty Isuzu Forward trucks also continued to attract strong demand. Known for their versatility across urban routes and long-distance highway operations, the Forward range retained its title as Malaysia’s best-selling medium-duty truck for the second consecutive year, with 494 units sold in 2025.
Looking ahead, Isuzu Malaysia plans to build on the strong reputation of its current line-up by further enhancing the ownership experience. While the company recorded a 12 percent increase in after-sales intake last year, efforts are now focused on improving service efficiency, shortening turnaround times and increasing parts availability. These initiatives aim to deliver smoother maintenance experiences, reduced downtime and greater peace of mind for owners.
For Malaysians seeking a vehicle that balances efficiency, durability and long-term value, Isuzu continues to strengthen its presence and showcase the capabilities of its range. More information on Isuzu vehicles and authorised dealerships nationwide can be found at isuzu.net.my.
