Caltex Malaysia has announced the appointment of Leong Jee Wong as its new Country Chairman, marking a significant leadership milestone as the company continues to strengthen its presence in the Malaysian energy market. Bringing with him more than 27 years of industry experience, Leong steps into the role with a deep understanding of Caltex’s operations, culture and long-term ambitions.
Leong most recently served as Fuels & Lubricants Manager, where he was responsible for overseeing fuels and lubricants sales channels in Singapore. His appointment reflects a career that has been closely intertwined with Caltex’s growth and transformation across the region. Having joined the company in 2005, Leong has spent nearly two decades building a broad and well-rounded portfolio within its downstream business.
Throughout his career, Leong has accumulated extensive experience across sales and operations, including merchandising, Commercial and Industrial Fuels, product supply and distribution, terminal operations, as well as lubricants sales across Southeast Asia. This diverse background has equipped him with a comprehensive view of the energy value chain and the ability to navigate the evolving demands of the industry.
Leong also brings valuable local insight, having previously been based in Malaysia from 2017 to 2020 as Area Transportation & Operations Manager. During this period, he developed in-depth knowledge of the country’s supply chain landscape, an experience he credits with sharpening his understanding of the key value drivers within the energy sector.
Speaking on his appointment, Leong expressed pride in leading a company with a strong heritage and dedicated workforce, noting that his professional growth has closely mirrored Caltex’s own journey of progress and transformation. While acknowledging Caltex’s evolution into a more agile and streamlined organisation, he emphasised that the company’s core values remain at the heart of its culture and decision-making.
Looking ahead, Leong has outlined a clear vision for Caltex Malaysia. In his new role, he aims to work closely with retail partners to better support local communities, provide accessible and affordable energy solutions, and further enhance Caltex’s reputation built on its people, partnerships and performance. Under his leadership, Caltex Malaysia is set to continue building sustainable growth while maintaining a strong commitment to its customers and communities.
