Proton has officially unveiled the 2026 PROTON X70, marking the latest evolution of its flagship C-segment SUV. Rather than a complete overhaul, the new X70 focuses on meaningful improvements in the areas that matter most to owners over time—performance, comfort and convenience, cost efficiency, and peace of mind. Designed with customer feedback in mind, the updated model aims to strengthen its position as a dependable family SUV for Malaysian buyers seeking long-term ownership confidence.

Since its debut in 2018, the Proton X70 has been instrumental in reshaping the local SUV landscape. Built on the globally proven Geely Boyue platform, which has surpassed two million units sold worldwide, the X70 has earned its reputation through a balance of reliability, comfort, and value. The 2026 update reflects Proton’s philosophy of continuous refinement, ensuring the model remains relevant and competitive in a demanding segment.

Powering the 2026 Proton X70 is the familiar i-GT 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Producing 181 PS and 290 Nm of torque, the powertrain delivers smooth, responsive performance alongside improved refinement and fuel efficiency. Supported by Proton’s chassis tuning and ride-and-handling expertise, the X70 offers composed road behaviour in city driving while remaining stable and comfortable on long highway journeys—making it well suited for both daily commutes and family trips.

Comfort has been further enhanced through improved ride quality and better noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) control, resulting in a quieter and more refined cabin. The spacious interior continues to cater well to families, providing ample room for passengers and luggage alike.

Technology also plays a key role in convenience. The 2026 X70 features a 12.3-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, complemented by the “Hi Proton” voice command system for intuitive control of in-car functions.

Cost efficiency remains a strong pillar of the X70’s appeal. With fuel consumption rated at 6.9L/100km, the turbocharged engine balances everyday efficiency with solid performance. The use of a timing chain instead of a belt enhances durability while reducing long-term maintenance requirements, helping to keep ownership costs in check over the years.

Safety continues to be a priority, with the 2026 Proton X70 equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) comprising 13 features. These include Intelligent Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist and Autonomous Emergency Braking, offering added confidence and support in various driving conditions.

Beyond the vehicle itself, Proton’s nationwide network of 172 authorised 3S and 4S service centres, backed by strong spare parts availability, ensures owners are well supported throughout their ownership journey.

The 2026 Proton X70 is offered in four exterior colours—Snow White, Armour Silver, Jet Grey and Marine Blue. Every purchase comes with a comprehensive Standard Package, including a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty with six free labour services under Pro-Warranty, as well as Pro-Connect with a 5-year data package offering 2GB per month. Pro-Finance* is also available, with financing tenures of up to nine years and interest rates starting from 2.2% per annum.

To celebrate the launch, Proton is extending a Special Launch Package to the first 1,500 customers who register their vehicles by 31 March 2026. Benefits include trade-in support of up to RM2,000, a RM7,000 rebate, and an accessories package worth RM700. Customers may also opt for the Pro-Shield insurance programme, which offers enhanced protection and additional coverage benefits.

After-sales support is further strengthened with initiatives such as Fast Service for basic maintenance, 1-Day Service Delivery, and relief vehicles for longer repairs—reinforcing Proton’s commitment to customer care.

On-the-road prices without insurance start from RM106,800 for the 1.5TD Executive and RM119,800 for the 1.5TD Premium in Peninsular Malaysia, with East Malaysia pricing slightly higher. With the limited-time rebate, prices drop to as low as RM99,800 for eligible registrations before 31 March 2026.

With its targeted upgrades and comprehensive ownership benefits, the 2026 Proton X70 continues to build on its strong foundation—offering Malaysian families a refined, value-driven SUV designed for confidence today and reliability for years to come.
