Viper Niza Racing proved once again why they are Malaysia’s endurance racing standard-bearers, securing a hard-fought third place in the GT3-AM Class and eighth overall at the debut edition of the Michelin 12 Hours of Malaysia. Held at the iconic Petronas Sepang International Circuit, the race marked another proud chapter for the all-Malaysian squad, whose resilience and consistency have become defining trademarks on both local and international circuits.

The team briefly led the GT3-AM Class in the early stages before an unexpected mechanical issue forced an unscheduled pit stop. A quick inspection revealed two loose bolts in the steering rack assembly of their Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO. Though the repair was swift, the delay cost Viper Niza Racing four crucial laps—enough to let frontrunners Origine Motorsport’s Porsche and Continental Racing by Simpson’s Audi take the lead.

Despite the setback, the driving trio of Douglas Khoo, Dominic Ang and Melvin Moh pushed relentlessly to regain ground. Racing under near-perfect weather conditions against one of the most competitive fields of the season, they clawed their way back to secure 311 laps—just behind the Audi’s 315 and the Porsche’s winning 319. Remarkably, all 17 starters crossed the finish line after the gruelling 12-hour test of machinery and stamina.

For Team Principal and lead driver Douglas Khoo, the race was both a challenge and a point of pride. “We wanted badly to win because it was our home race, and we know Sepang extremely well. But what mattered most was finishing the 12 hours. The issue we had wasn’t major, but in endurance racing, even a few minutes can decide the podium,” he shared.

The result adds to what has already been an impressive 2025 season for Viper Niza Racing. Their endurance campaign spans both Asia and Europe, including a podium at the Motul 12 Hours of Sepang earlier in the year, second place at the Michelin 12H of Spa-Francorchamps, third at the 12H of Paul Ricard, and a fourth-place finish in the GT3-AM overall standings of the Michelin 24H European Series—despite missing one of the five rounds.

With their momentum strong and valuable experience gained, Khoo confirmed the team’s intent to return to Europe in 2026 for a full-season attack. The upcoming Michelin 24H European Series will kick off in March at Mugello, followed by stops at Spa, Paul Ricard, Nürburgring and Barcelona.

Viper Niza Racing’s campaign continues with strong support from partners including Motul, Endless, Momentum Autoparts, IWC as the Official Watch Brand, Jen Orchard Gateway Hotel Singapore and Vida sparkling drink.

Their latest podium at Sepang not only reinforces their growing international reputation but also celebrates the spirit of Malaysian motorsport—determined, ambitious and ready for every challenge that comes its way.
