Setel has taken a major step towards greater financial inclusivity with the launch of its new Cash Top-Up feature, allowing customers to add funds to their Setel Wallet using cash at PETRONAS stations across Malaysia. The initiative is designed to welcome more Malaysians into the digital payments ecosystem—especially those who prefer cash—without requiring online banking access or payment cards.

With Cash Top-Up now available at over 1,000 PETRONAS stations nationwide, users can enjoy the full Setel experience after completing a simple one-time verification. This includes seamless fuel purchases (including BUDI95), parking payments, shopping, Mesra Rewards collection, and a wide range of other services within the Setel ecosystem. For BUDI95 recipients, the new feature further strengthens Setel’s position as a convenient and rewarding platform, ensuring subsidies can be enjoyed easily while maintaining familiar payment habits.

To ensure a smooth transition for first-time digital users, PETRONAS station staff will be on hand to assist customers with cash top-ups. This hands-on support helps remove common barriers to digital adoption, giving cash-first users the confidence to experience app-based fuelling, faster transactions, and enhanced rewards—all without giving up cash as their preferred payment method.

Setel Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Ayman Awaluddin said the move reflects the company’s commitment to meeting Malaysians where they are. By enabling cash top-ups at PETRONAS stations nationwide, including in remote and underserved areas, Setel aims to create a more inclusive digital ecosystem that benefits everyone, regardless of location or payment preference. The initiative, he added, is ultimately about simplifying everyday life while bringing more communities into the digital journey on their own terms.

The Cash Top-Up feature also solves a long-standing concern among cash users: unused balances. Any remaining funds in the Setel Wallet can be spent beyond fuel, covering parking, retail purchases, car services, motor insurance renewal, and DuitNow QR payments. This ensures that every ringgit topped up can be fully utilised, eliminating wasted balances.

Supporting this push for wider adoption is Setel’s ongoing ‘Setel je! Senangnya’ campaign in collaboration with Mesra Rewards. More than just a promotional drive, the campaign offers hands-on exposure to how Setel simplifies daily mobility needs. New users who download the app and sign up with the code C-SENANG receive RM10 upfront to try fuelling with Setel, along with a share of 60 million Mesra Rewards points and chances to win prizes worth up to RM320,000 after their first fuel purchase. Additional rewards can be earned by continuing to use Setel’s services and referring friends.

Running until 31 January 2026, the campaign gives both new and existing users ample time to explore Setel’s growing ecosystem and benefits. More information on Cash Top-Up and the ‘Setel je! Senangnya’ campaign is available via the Setel app, official website, and Setel’s social media channels.
