Perodua is accelerating its entry into the electric vehicle (EV) space by widening customer access to bookings for its first EV model, the Perodua QV-E. The national carmaker has increased the number of authorised sales outlets that can accept QV-E bookings to 34 selected locations across Peninsular Malaysia, up from the initial nine outlets.

According to Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad, the expansion reflects strong interest from potential buyers nationwide. By extending booking access to more locations, Perodua aims to make it easier for customers to arrange test drives and secure reservations for the QV-E.

To further enhance convenience, Perodua has also reintroduced manual booking options alongside its digital platform. While bookings were initially limited to the P Circle super-app, customer feedback indicated a preference for traditional, in-person booking methods. In response, Perodua now allows customers to make reservations directly at selected outlets, streamlining the overall experience for a wider range of buyers.

Beyond bookings, Perodua is also simplifying its Battery-as-a-Service (BAAS) programme, a key component of the QV-E ownership model. The company plans to explain the terms and conditions through a clearer infographic format to help customers better understand the programme.

The BAAS initiative is an independent service designed to protect both customers and the environment by placing battery ownership and maintenance under Perodua’s care. Customers subscribe to the service at a fixed monthly fee of RM275 for 108 months, or nine years. This all-inclusive rate is capped to shield customers from potential future price increases.

Under the programme, Perodua fully maintains the electric battery throughout the subscription period and beyond, offering long-term peace of mind to owners. The company also manages administrative matters related to ownership transfers. Should a QV-E owner decide to sell their vehicle, Perodua’s Pre-Owned Vehicle Department will remove the original owner from the subscription and register the new owner seamlessly.

Importantly, the subscription is transferable. If an owner has already completed part of the 108-month plan, the remaining balance carries over to the next owner, ensuring continuity without additional penalties.

Dato’ Sri Zainal подчеркed that the BAAS programme underscores Perodua’s commitment to customer safety, convenience, and environmental responsibility. By taking long-term responsibility for the battery, Perodua aims to lower barriers to EV adoption while promoting sustainable mobility in Malaysia.
