Ipone Malaysia has officially entered a new era with the launch of its fully repackaged and reformulated motorcycle engine oil range, marking a major step forward for the premium French lubricant brand under the Motul Group. Hosted by Specialty Lubricants Trading Sdn Bhd (SLT), the brand’s official principal in Malaysia, the event celebrated not only Ipone’s refreshed product line but also its newly awarded SIRIM certification — a testament to its uncompromising focus on quality, reliability, and rider confidence.
With Malaysia’s two-wheel market continuing to expand, Ipone aims to meet the demands of riders who expect more from their machines. The upgraded range is formulated using 100% PAO and ester base oils — the highest-grade Group 4 and Group 5 base stocks available — delivering exceptional protection, performance, and efficiency. Whether for daily commuting, spirited weekend rides, or competitive racing, the new formulations are engineered to help riders push boundaries with confidence.
Reflecting Ipone’s deep Japanese influence, the entire product line adopts a visual hierarchy inspired by judo belts. Each tier features manga-style artwork and distinct belt colours to clearly communicate performance levels:
- Shogun (Black Belt): Top-tier oils for maximum protection in high-performance and track-ready machines.
- Samourai & Katana (Blue Belt): Fully synthetic oils designed for strong responsiveness and premium durability.
- R4000 (Green Belt) & 10.4 (Orange Belt): Semi-synthetic formulations that balance performance and value for everyday riders.
- M4 (Yellow Belt): Reliable mineral oil for compatible motorcycles and workshop use.

This belt-inspired progression tells a story of advancement and mastery, allowing riders to choose the oil that matches their riding journey — and motivates them to level up.
Ipone Malaysia’s renewed brand direction is captured in its bold philosophy: Ride dengan Attitude. It encourages riders to embrace freedom, passion, and authenticity, transforming every ride into an expression of identity and purpose. It’s a mindset where confidence meets responsibility, and where every twist of the throttle is a statement.
Ravi Shankar, Country General Manager of SLT, highlighted that this launch represents a significant milestone for Ipone Malaysia. With enhanced formulations, refreshed branding, and expanded distribution through SLT and MKA Group, riders can expect better availability and improved service nationwide.
Motul Asia Pacific’s Chief Business Officer, Yoann Koppe, emphasised Ipone’s commitment to true localisation — understanding Malaysian riding culture and adapting products to fit regional needs. He also underscored the importance of the newly secured SIRIM certification, which reinforces trust and cements Malaysia as a key market in Ipone’s long-term regional strategy.
The launch event brought together over 160 attendees, including KPDN representatives, dealers, media, influencers, and team members from both Ipone and MKA Group. Immersed in Japanese manga aesthetics, the evening featured caricature artists, photo installations, DJ sets, and cultural food experiences — reflecting the dynamic spirit behind Ipone’s refreshed identity.
Zubir bin Hamsa, Director of the Intellectual Property Section at KPDN, praised Ipone’s strong quality management following his visit to the brand’s facilities in France. He extended his support and well wishes as Ipone Malaysia embarks on its next phase of growth.
As Ipone Malaysia strengthens its identity, enhances rider engagement, and expands accessibility, it reinforces its commitment to delivering world-class lubrication solutions to Malaysian riders. With SLT at the helm and a trusted network of partners, Ipone sets its sights on elevating performance, culture, and community across the nation’s motorcycling landscape.
