Proton has ended October 2025 on a high note, achieving its best monthly sales performance of the year with a total of 15,575 units sold (domestic and export combined). The figure marks a 16.3% increase over September and pushes the brand’s year-to-date (YTD) sales to 129,872 units, standing 3% ahead of 2024.
This achievement comes after a bustling month filled with product launches, showcases, and the debut of Malaysia’s first affordable electric vehicle (EV). The strong performance also mirrors the broader market rebound — Malaysia’s Total Industry Volume (TIV) climbed 32.3% to 77,377 units, its highest monthly level in 2025. With two months remaining in the year, Malaysia is on track to surpass 800,000 vehicle sales for a second consecutive year, reinforcing its position as the ASEAN region’s automotive leader.
Even as Proton gears up for the unveiling of the all-new Proton Saga, the outgoing model continues to make history. In October, the Saga recorded 8,373 units sold, its best monthly performance since July 2013. The milestone pushed it to second place in the national sales chart, with YTD sales reaching 59,107 units. Proton expects its successor to carry forward this legacy with improved design, comfort, and technology to meet the expectations of loyal fans.
Meanwhile, the Proton X50 continues to be a force in the B-segment SUV category. Since the new model’s launch in late July, it has notched 10,418 deliveries in just three months. October alone contributed 2,693 units, driving YTD sales to 23,847 units — an impressive 24.7% increase over the same period in 2024. Consumers continue to be drawn to its sporty design, connected features, and strong performance, solidifying the X50’s place as Proton’s SUV bestseller.
Following a dip in September, Proton’s internal combustion engine (ICE) models saw a strong rebound in October. The Proton X70 led the recovery with a 56.3% surge to 680 units, while the Proton S70 recorded 1,402 units, marking 43.2% growth and maintaining its lead among C-segment sedans. The Proton Persona also grew modestly by 4.7% with 1,215 units, and the flagship X90 added 209 units, up 7.7% month-on-month.
Proton’s EV division, e.MAS, continues to gain traction in Malaysia’s growing electric mobility market. While the newly launched e.MAS 5 drew attention for its affordable pricing and long list of features, the larger e.MAS 7 maintained its dominance with 758 units sold in October. This brings its YTD total to 7,413 units, securing its position as Malaysia’s best-selling EV model for ten consecutive months.
According to Zhang Qiang, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Proton Edar, the October success underscores the brand’s growing customer confidence and dealer support. “Our strong sales are the result of sustained efforts to bring more customers behind the wheel. Once they experience the quality and performance of our cars, they understand the value Proton delivers. We’re also grateful for the overwhelming response to the outgoing Saga and the strong interest in its successor, as well as in the e.MAS 5,” he said.
With robust sales across its lineup and an expanding EV portfolio, Proton is poised to close 2025 as one of Malaysia’s most dynamic automotive brands — balancing heritage, innovation, and the drive toward a sustainable future.
