Michelin reaffirmed its commitment to redefining performance through innovation, sustainability, and human-centric progress at the Michelin Asia Pacific Media Day 2025, held at its Nongkhae site in Saraburi, Thailand. Themed “Michelin Beyond Performance,” the annual event gathered industry partners and executives to showcase how the company is shaping a better future through advanced technology and collaboration.
Manuel Fafian, President and Managing Director of Michelin Asia Pacific, opened the event by highlighting Michelin’s transformation from a tire manufacturer into a global leader in composite materials and life-changing solutions. “Our ambition goes beyond performance,” he stated. “We are building a future where every product, every solution, and every experience contributes to a better way forward—for people, for profit, and for the planet.”
Michelin’s legacy of innovation dates back to 1899, when it played a pioneering role in the electric land-speed record. Today, that same spirit drives the company’s leadership in sustainable tire technologies and advanced composite solutions across mobility, healthcare, aerospace, and low-carbon energy.
Cyrille Roget, Michelin’s Technical and Scientific Communication Director, underscored the importance of designing for the full life cycle of a tire. He shared how Michelin integrates bio-sourced materials and optimizes rolling resistance to reduce environmental impact—acknowledging that over 80% of a tire’s footprint occurs during its use phase. This approach reflects Michelin’s holistic view of sustainability that extends from material sourcing to product performance.
A key highlight of the event was a panel discussion featuring Michelin’s strategic partners—DHL, Mon Transport, and SweetVarnVarn. Together, they discussed how cross-industry collaboration is accelerating sustainability in logistics, manufacturing, and mobility. Joint initiatives include scaling sustainable logistics solutions and implementing shared KPIs to track environmental impact across markets. The panel reinforced that shared values, innovation, and a long-term vision are critical to achieving meaningful progress.
Guests were also given an exclusive look into Michelin’s production facilities for Aircraft Tires and Truck & Bus Tires. The factory tour demonstrated how advanced engineering, precision manufacturing, and sustainability practices converge to create high-performance products that minimize environmental impact.
Speaking about the event, Florentin Odenwald, Managing Director of Michelin Malaysia, emphasized that the innovations showcased in Thailand are already shaping Michelin’s operations across Southeast Asia. “We are moving beyond traditional manufacturing to become a true partner in Malaysia’s journey toward sustainable mobility and industrial innovation,” he said. “This is our All-Sustainable commitment in action—creating measurable impact for people, profit, and planet.”
Through its continued innovation and partnerships, Michelin is driving forward a future where performance and purpose go hand in hand—paving the road toward a more sustainable and connected world.
