GWM Malaysia is stepping into GATE (Global Automotive and Technology) Expo 2025 with strong momentum, marking its third year in the country and reaffirming its commitment to shaping Malaysia’s future in intelligent, sustainable mobility. As one of the nation’s most prominent automotive and technology showcases, GATE 2025 provides the perfect platform for GWM to demonstrate not only its technological capabilities, but also its long-term vision for Malaysia’s evolving mobility landscape.
GWM’s journey in Malaysia is guided by a mission that goes beyond selling vehicles. The brand is actively building local value through an extensive localisation programme designed to strengthen the domestic automotive ecosystem.
Working closely with Malaysian vendors, GWM is already localising key components such as seat modules, wiring harnesses, sub-frames, door trims, and batteries. Future local assembly plans include exhaust systems, carpets, and suspension assemblies. By deepening local participation, GWM aims to cultivate skilled employment, support local industry growth, and reinforce Malaysia’s ambitions of becoming a regional hub for intelligent new energy vehicles.
This localisation strategy underscores GWM’s long-term commitment to Malaysia—building an ecosystem that is resilient, innovative, and geared toward sustainable expansion.
The highlight of GWM’s presence at GATE 2025 is its groundbreaking Hi4 (Hybrid Intelligent 4-Wheel Drive) system. This next-generation hybrid technology blends dual-motor 4WD performance with smart energy management, enabling a balance of power and efficiency that aligns with GWM’s engineering philosophy: the performance of 4WD with the efficiency of 2WD.
Developed across GWM’s global research network, the Hi4 system has undergone extensive testing in varied climates and terrains, ensuring its readiness for Malaysia’s tropical weather, diverse road conditions, and daily driving patterns.
“Hi4 represents the next step in hybrid innovation,” said Cui Anqi, Managing Director of GWM Malaysia. “It makes powerful driving intelligent and efficiency effortless. This is more than technology—it’s a redefinition of how hybrid mobility should feel.”
GWM’s next major milestone in Malaysia will be the introduction of the GWM WEY G9 in early 2026. This luxury MPV will be the first in the country to feature the Hi4 Intelligent Hybrid 4WD system, setting a new standard in premium hybrid mobility.
Guided by the theme “First-Class for All,” the WEY G9 is engineered to deliver an elevated mobility experience that blends intelligence, comfort, practicality, and sustainability. Designed with Malaysian families in mind, the MPV is poised to make advanced hybrid luxury more accessible.
“The GWM WEY G9 will redefine what premium hybrid mobility means for Malaysian families,” said Roslan Abdullah, Chief Operating Officer of GWM Malaysia. “It combines luxury and cutting-edge technology in a way that fits our roads, our needs, and our expectations.”
The WEY G9 is already making waves internationally. In October 2025, it surpassed 10,000 units sold in China alone, positioning it as a strong contender for the top MPV spot across petrol, hybrid, and EV categories. Its blend of craftsmanship, advanced features, and the acclaimed Hi4 hybrid system has resonated with customers seeking reliability and premium performance.
“The G9’s success in China reflects GWM’s technological leadership and ability to deliver meaningful value,” added Cui Anqi. “We believe Malaysians will soon recognise the same strengths that have made the G9 a benchmark for intelligent hybrid mobility.”
With the introduction of Hi4 technology and the upcoming arrival of the WEY G9, GWM Malaysia is poised to accelerate the nation’s shift toward a more intelligent and connected mobility ecosystem.
“As we expand our dealer network and introduce more advanced technologies, our aim is simple: to deliver a brand that cares, innovates, and grows with Malaysians,” Roslan Abdullah concluded.
