Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET) has unveiled its first-ever DC Charging Hub at the company’s headquarters in Tanjung Malim. This milestone marks PROTON’s entry into operating its own charging infrastructure, a move that strengthens its role in shaping Malaysia’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.

Strategically located at the administration building, the hub features two DC chargers and four charging bays, capable of delivering a combined output of 120kW. With capacity for four EVs to charge simultaneously, the facility provides greater accessibility and convenience for users. Unlike previous stations operated by third-party providers, this hub is fully managed by PRO-NET, ensuring Proton maintains direct control over pricing, service quality, and customer experience.

Importantly, the hub is open to all EV owners regardless of brand, following the approval of the ST EVCS License. This inclusive approach highlights PROTON’s commitment to driving EV adoption across Malaysia, not just for its own customers but for the wider community.

“This charging hub is a significant step forward for us, not just as a facility but as part of our commitment to build a stronger EV ecosystem for Malaysia,” said Mr. Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET. “By keeping the service affordable and simple to use, we hope to make EV adoption more appealing for everyone. Tanjung Malim is where PRO-NET’s story began, so it is fitting for us to also start this new chapter here.”

The new charging hub also serves as a proof-of-concept for app-free charging. Users can start charging simply by scanning a QR code, which links to a web-based interface for activation and payment. For Proton e.MAS and smart owners, the service is also fully integrated with the e.MAS app and Hello smart app, ensuring flexibility and convenience.

To make the service accessible, PROTON has set a competitive charging rate of RM0.80 per kWh, among the lowest in the country. To celebrate the launch, all users will enjoy a special rate of RM0.40 per kWh from 1st to 31st October 2025.

The launch further strengthens Tanjung Malim’s position as the epicenter of PRO-NET’s electrification journey. With Proton’s new EV production plant slated to begin operations soon, the area is set to become a powerhouse for electric mobility—assembling the nation’s first locally produced EVs, creating new job opportunities, and fostering local expertise.

Through initiatives like this, PROTON is not only making EV ownership more practical and affordable but also laying the foundation for Malaysia’s transition into a sustainable automotive future.
