Proton International Corporation Sdn Bhd (PICSB) has officially introduced the Proton e.MAS 7 to the Mauritian market, marking the island nation as the fourth international destination for the company’s first fully electric vehicle. Arriving just ten months after its debut in Malaysia and following Proton’s recent return to Singapore on 18 September, the e.MAS 7 has quickly established itself as a key export model, now ranking third in popularity behind the Proton Saga and Proton X50.
The launch event in Port Louis was officiated by Edmund Lim Meng Thong, CEO of PICSB, and attended by Osman Mahomed, Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Mauritius, alongside Ally Dusmohamud, CEO of Proton Mauritius representing the Autonexx Group. The ceremony also celebrated the delivery of the first ten units to Mauritian customers, highlighting strong demand even before the vehicle’s official debut.
The e.MAS 7’s arrival in Mauritius underscores Proton’s commitment to expanding its global footprint and advancing the adoption of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs). Since its launch, the model has seen over 6,500 units delivered domestically and abroad, demonstrating its broad appeal. Production is centered at Proton’s new EV plant in Malaysia, capable of manufacturing up to 45,000 vehicles annually, a cornerstone in the company’s plan to export 250,000 units in the coming years.
With over 35 years in Mauritius, Autonexx has been a pivotal partner in strengthening Proton’s brand and customer confidence on the island. The e.MAS 7 launch further cements this long-standing collaboration, reflecting a shared vision to accelerate electric mobility in the country.
Available in Prime and Premium trims in Mauritius, the e.MAS 7 boasts a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating and impressive performance, accelerating from 0–100 km/h in just 7.1 seconds. Its 12-in-1 electric drive unit produces 160 kW of power and 320 Nm of torque, while the 60.22 kWh AEGIS Short Blade battery provides a WLTP-rated range of 410 km—ideal for local driving needs.
Proton backs the e.MAS 7 with a 6-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8-year/160,000 km high-voltage battery and components warranty, ensuring peace of mind for customers transitioning to electric vehicles.
To mark the e.MAS 7’s debut, Proton Mauritius is offering early-bird incentives for the first 30 customers. The Prime variant is priced at Rs 1,690,000 on the road (excluding insurance) and includes a free wallbox charger and e.motion card. The Premium variant, priced at Rs 1,850,000, adds five years of free servicing or up to 150,000 km, alongside the charger and e.motion card.
“The introduction of the e.MAS 7 in Mauritius forms part of Proton’s ongoing strategy to expand its EV portfolio across global markets,” said Edmund Lim Meng Thong, CEO of PICSB. “Each new entry strengthens our international presence and reflects Proton’s capability to deliver vehicles that balance technology, performance, and value. The EV plant in Tanjong Malim will enable Proton to develop the next generation of electric models for the world.”
