SAIC Motor Malaysia has announced a revised pricing structure for the MGS5 EV, reinforcing its commitment to making electric mobility more attainable for Malaysian consumers. The updated prices reflect MG’s growing confidence in Malaysia’s EV landscape and its ongoing mission to offer premium yet value-driven electric vehicles.
Effective immediately, the MGS5 EV is now priced at RM107,900 for the COM variant, RM117,900 for the COM Long Range, and RM127,900 for the LUX Long Range. Both COM and LUX models share the same rear-wheel-drive setup powered by a motor producing 170PS and 250Nm of torque — a configuration unique within its segment. The COM variant offers either a 49kWh battery with a 340km WLTP range or a 62kWh battery delivering up to 430km. The LUX variant comes exclusively with the 62kWh pack as standard.
Charging options are versatile, with all variants supporting 7kW AC charging. The LUX variant, however, stands out with its ability to handle 150kW DC fast charging, enabling a 10% to 80% recharge in just 26 minutes. Inside, the LUX variant enhances comfort and convenience with premium touches such as 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, leather-fabric seats with perforated MG logos, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging, a powered tailgate, and a 360-degree camera system.
Across all trims, the MGS5 EV maintains a stylish and high-tech appeal. LED headlamps with “Racing Flag” DRLs and MG’s signature Arch Taillights set the tone, while technology highlights include a 12.8-inch central touchscreen with voice command, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, MG’s iSMART connectivity suite, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability. Boot capacity reaches up to 1,441 litres with the underfloor compartment, ensuring practicality for families and adventurers alike.
Engineered with an ultra-thin Horizontal Battery Layout, the MGS5 EV offers excellent cabin space and a low centre of gravity. Its adaptive pressure control system further improves battery safety and durability by minimising cell expansion — a testament to MG’s emphasis on innovation and reliability.
To further enhance customer value, all variants include the “Ultimate Ownership Package,” offering benefits worth up to RM10,000. Buyers can choose between a complimentary 7kW AC wallbox charger or charging credits. Flexible financing options are also available through the MG Ultimate Financing Package, providing tailor-made solutions via authorised dealers nationwide.
“This price revision reflects our commitment to make EV ownership more attainable for Malaysians as we prepare for the next phase of MG’s localisation strategy,” said Emory QiFeng, Managing Director of SAIC Motor Malaysia. “With local assembly plans already in motion, we are ensuring our customers enjoy better value, more flexibility, and a stronger MG presence in Malaysia.”
As MG advances toward local assembly in 2025, the brand’s ongoing investment in Malaysia’s EV ecosystem underscores its long-term dedication to local partnerships, innovation, and customer satisfaction — driving the nation closer to a sustainable automotive future.
