Allianz Malaysia Berhad (Allianz Malaysia), through its corporate social responsibility arm Allianz4Good, has taken a significant step toward enhancing road safety with the launch of the P-hailing Bikers Safety & Emergency Survival Programme. Targeting riders from foodpanda and Lalamove, the initiative was conducted by the Road Safety Marshal Club (RSMC) at MISAR Academy, Kampung Pandan, on 17 July and 23 August 2025.
Designed as an intensive four-hour session, the Programme aimed to cultivate safer riding habits while equipping participants with essential first-response skills during emergencies. Riders were trained to better recognize common road hazards, conduct personal bike inspections, choose appropriate helmets and protective gear, and master visibility and blind-spot awareness. The training also included defensive riding techniques, group riding safety, accident response and reporting, slow-speed control, bike lifting, and emergency first aid/self-triage practices.
By combining classroom instruction with practical on-ground drills, Allianz Malaysia sought to ensure that riders not only understand safety concepts but can also apply them in real-life scenarios. The collaboration with leading p-hailing platforms foodpanda and Lalamove underscores a shared commitment to the safety and well-being of riders navigating Malaysia’s busy streets.
Ng Siew Gek, Head of Allianz4Good, emphasized the programme’s practical benefits: “Riders are on the road all day; their exposure to road accident risk is real. This Programme provides riders with practical skills to prevent crashes and to respond in the first critical minutes during emergencies. Together with RSMC, foodpanda, and Lalamove, we aim for safer deliveries and safer communities.”
Foodpanda Malaysia’s Director of Operations, Shubham Saran, highlighted the initiative’s significance: “The safety and well-being of our riders are at the heart of what we do. Programmes like this equip our riders with practical skills that help them stay safe and respond effectively in emergencies, contributing to safer roads and stronger communities.”
Similarly, Jane Teh, Managing Director of Lalamove Malaysia, noted, “This collaboration equips our driver partners with vital, life-saving skills and safer riding practices that make a real difference on the road. We are honoured to stand alongside Allianz Malaysia in empowering our riders to navigate daily challenges with greater confidence.”
The P-hailing Bikers Safety & Emergency Survival Programme aligns with Allianz Malaysia’s ongoing initiatives, first highlighted at the Allianz Malaysia Media Forum 2025 with MIROS and major p-hailing platforms, to promote practical, hands-on learning that improves rider safety and fosters safer communities across the nation.
