Malaysia’s Viper Niza Racing Team has proudly completed its maiden full season in the 2025 Michelin 24H SERIES European Championship, finishing 4th overall in the GT3-AM Class after a dramatic final showdown at the 24 Hours of Barcelona.
The all-Malaysian squad—comprising Team Principal Douglas Khoo, Dominic Ang, Melvin Moh, Afiq Yazid, and Aaron Lim—piloted their Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO to 633 laps in the Barcelona finale. Despite an early charge that saw them climb as high as 7th place, a costly collision with a Porsche and subsequent steering damage derailed their podium hopes, forcing lengthy repairs that cost the team over 90 laps. Ultimately, they crossed the line 11th in GT3 and 22nd overall.
Reflecting on the setback, Khoo explained: “The target going into Barcelona was to fight for the GT3-AM Championship or at least secure a top-three finish. While the incident was unfortunate, we are equally happy to finish 4th amidst all the drama and misfortunes.”
The GT3-AM title was clinched by Continental Racing by Simpson Motorsport, with Juta Racing and Hofor Racing securing 2nd and 3rd.
The Barcelona finale capped off a rollercoaster season for Viper Niza Racing. The team missed the opening round at Mugello but quickly made their mark with a 2nd-place GT3-AM finish at the 12 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. Misfortune struck again at Misano with a retirement due to a cracked oil sump, but the team bounced back at Paul Ricard with a strong 8th overall, 3rd in GT3-AM, and the prestigious Spirit of the Race award—earned in a rented car after theirs was damaged during qualifying.
Despite the setbacks, Khoo highlighted the season’s greater achievement: “The bigger victory is being able to bring an entirely all-Malaysian team—from drivers to mechanics and engineers—to compete at this level and fly the Jalur Gemilang in Europe. The experience gained this year will only make us stronger for the future.”
Backed by Motul, Endless & Momentum Autoparts, IWC as the Official Watch Brand, and Jen Orchard Gateway Hotel Singapore, Viper Niza Racing has proven that a fully homegrown Malaysian team can compete against Europe’s best. With valuable lessons learned and podiums already in hand, the team is now set to return stronger in the seasons to come.
