UMW Toyota Motor, in collaboration with Toyota GAZOO Racing Malaysia, has officially launched the Toyota GR Malaysia eRacing Championship 2025, Malaysia’s leading simulator racing series. Now in its eighth year, the championship—formerly known as GT Cup Malaysia—continues to uncover the nation’s fastest virtual racers while offering them a pathway into real-world motorsport.

Aligned with Toyota GAZOO Racing’s philosophy of “pushing the limits for better,” this year’s edition expands beyond Gran Turismo to include RaceRoom, Assetto Corsa, and iRacing, testing drivers’ versatility and skill across multiple platforms. The championship carries a combined prize pool of RM123,000 and features three classes—Pro, Club, and Junior—highlighting a comprehensive search for Malaysia’s next generation of motorsport talent.

With three rounds already concluded, the top 40 drivers have advanced to the quarterfinals, competing for a spot among the top 20 in the semifinals. The season will culminate in a grand finale, where the top 10 racers will battle it out for ultimate glory.

Running alongside the championship is the TGR Malaysia eRacing Campus Tour, designed to bring the thrill of simulator racing directly to university students. The tour not only exposes undergraduates to the world of eRacing but has also historically discovered talent that has successfully transitioned to real-world competitions such as the VIOS Challenge.

The Campus Tour has already visited Sunway University, INTI International College Subang, HELP University, and City University, with stops at MDIS Malaysia International College (Johor), Islamic International University Malaysia (Gombak), UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College (Batu Kawan), and UNITAR International University (Kelana Jaya) scheduled through October. At each stop, students can experience professional-grade simulators, participate in tire demonstrations by Toyo Tires, and win exclusive Toyota GAZOO Racing merchandise. The 10 fastest campus racers earn a direct seat in the championship’s grand finale.

“This initiative is more than a competition—it’s an immersive introduction to motorsports culture designed to ignite passion and discover untapped talent,” said Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor. “By lowering barriers of entry and empowering talent from all walks of life, we are building champions and opening doors to a more inclusive future of racing.”

Past participants like Raja Amirul Syauqat, Genevieve Ooi, and Jastin Rahul Dev have progressed from the Campus Tour to the VIOS Challenge Rookie Class, demonstrating the championship’s success in creating a virtual-to-reality motorsports ladder.

In addition, Toyota’s performance models are featured in select showcase races, including a Toyota-only race category, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to precision, innovation, and the thrill of performance racing.
