Proton has taken its popular SUV campaign a step further by releasing a Mandarin version of its Proton X50 theme song, Ready, Set, Roar!. Sung by Malaysian artist Suki Low, the new rendition is now available on Spotify, YouTube Music, and Apple Music, giving fans more ways to engage with the country’s best-selling B-segment SUV.

The original theme song, performed by the vocal group De Fam in Bahasa Melayu and English, first debuted on 5 July during a preview event. Since then, it has become a cultural touchpoint for the Proton X50, amassing over 3.1 million views across platforms. With the launch of the “Roar To Fame” lip-sync and dance contest, the Mandarin version further broadens the SUV’s appeal, ensuring inclusivity for Malaysia’s multilingual audience.

“Since its official launch on 24 July, the Proton X50 has developed a very strong following thanks to its product features as well as the popularity of its theme song. With this Mandarin version, more Malaysians can now join the excitement while celebrating the undisputed king of B-segment SUVs,” said Zhang Qiang, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Proton Edar.

The Proton X50 has quickly proven its dominance, being crowned Malaysia’s best-selling SUV in August and surpassing 5,000 deliveries in under 40 days. To keep the momentum strong, Proton continues to roll out nationwide campaigns. The “Roar of Amazement Tour,” which toured West Malaysia before the launch, is now making its way through East Malaysia, engaging customers in Sarawak and Sabah with weekend showcases.

Looking ahead, Proton plans further collaborations with partner brands and will continue leveraging social media creators, influencers, and outlet-level content to keep the Proton X50 at the forefront of consumer choice.

According to Zhang Qiang, the launch of the Proton X50 also signals a larger shift for the automaker: “It marked a new approach for launching, marketing, and selling Proton models. This is just the beginning, as Proton will soon introduce more models, organize a technology showcase, and centralise production at our Tanjong Malim plant.”
