Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET) has successfully completed the Northern leg of its nationwide MISI 5 Tour, drawing strong community participation across Kedah, Penang, and Perak. The event, held from 22 to 24 August, gave Malaysians a closer look at the highly anticipated Proton e.MAS 5 ahead of its official launch in October.

The tour brought the e.MAS 5 directly to Malaysians in their daily environments, from bustling Pekan Rabu and coastal Tanjung Dawai in Kedah, to Juru Auto City in Penang and the vibrant Concubine Lane in Ipoh. Beyond showroom displays, the initiative aimed to help the public imagine how the e.MAS 5 could seamlessly fit into their lifestyle, whether for commuting, family use, or city driving.

Early adopters of Proton’s EV lineup were quick to share their impressions. A Proton e.MAS 7 owner who explored the e.MAS 5 in Sungai Petani praised its practicality: “I use my e.MAS 7 daily for commuting between Sungai Petani and Perlis, and range has never been an issue. The e.MAS 5 feels roomy, has good legroom, and the frunk is perfect for groceries. I’m even considering one for my wife.”

Meanwhile, in Penang, long-time Proton fan K.P. Siva reflected on the brand’s journey: “My first car was a Proton Waja, followed by a Persona. Seeing Proton step into the EV space is exciting, and it shows how much the brand has grown with Malaysians.”

For many in the Northern states, switching to an EV came with a sense of practicality rather than urgency. “Life up North is more laid-back than in Kuala Lumpur,” Siva added, “so people view EV adoption in a slightly different way.”

Puan Salawati Yusoff, Chief Branding Officer of PRO-NET, highlighted the diversity of customer feedback across the Northern region. “In Sungai Petani and Ipoh, the conversations were focused on family use and practicality, while in Penang, it was more about city driving and charging solutions. It really shows how the Proton e.MAS 5 adapts to different lifestyles across Malaysia.”

With strong interest from the Northern states, the MISI 5 Tour is now heading to the East Coast from 5 to 7 September. Over three days, the Proton e.MAS 5 will make its way through Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang, stopping at both dealer showrooms and community hotspots.

Residents can expect to see the e.MAS 5 at iconic locations such as Pasar Siti Khadijah in Kota Bharu, the Jambatan Angkat in Kuala Terengganu, and Teluk Cempedak beach in Kuantan — offering a first-hand chance to connect with Proton’s new EV in familiar, everyday settings.

Malaysians can follow the MISI 5 Tour and discover behind-the-scenes highlights through Proton e.MAS’ official social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.
