Malaysia’s 68th Independence Day was made even more special this year as over 1,000 Isuzu D-Max owners joined forces in a patriotic celebration that stretched across the nation. The Isuzu Merdeka Convoy, now becoming a much-anticipated annual tradition, saw 1,028 proud owners driving from 39 authorized dealerships to scenic destinations in their respective states.
The event was more than just a convoy—it was a symbol of unity. Families, friends, and fellow D-Max enthusiasts came together to mark Merdeka in a unique way, blending national pride with the thrill of adventure. Activities along the routes included orchard visits, island hopping, picnics, extreme games, sightseeing, and even durian feasts, ensuring participants experienced both camaraderie and Malaysia’s diverse attractions.
At the Seremban flag-off, Isuzu Malaysia’s Chief Executive Officer, Tomoyuki Yamaguchi, expressed admiration for the heartfelt patriotism on display. “The Isuzu Merdeka convoy is quickly establishing itself as an amazing platform for our customers to showcase their patriotism and pride. It is truly heartwarming to see Malaysians from various walks of life sharing a common love of the country and enjoying its proudest moment,” he said.
The initiative also highlighted the strengths of the Isuzu D-Max. Known for its reliability and efficiency, the pick-up proved to be the perfect companion for long journeys and offbeat adventures. Kenichi Kudo, Chief Operating Officer of Isuzu’s Light Commercial Vehicle Division, noted that the convoy provided the perfect opportunity for owners to explore Malaysia’s hidden gems while experiencing the sheer driving pleasure of the D-Max.
“Apart from celebrating the unity of Merdeka with fellow Malaysians, the Isuzu Merdeka Convoy was also an excellent opportunity for owners to appreciate the beauty of the country while enjoying the absolute pleasure of driving their Isuzu D-Max,” he said.
With its combination of patriotism, adventure, and community spirit, the Isuzu Merdeka Convoy has cemented itself as more than a motoring event—it’s a celebration of Malaysian pride on wheels.
