Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has taken a significant step toward greener logistics in Malaysia with the deployment of 41 Maxus e-Deliver 3 electric vans. Each vehicle comes with a load capacity of 920 kilograms and can travel up to 228 kilometers on a single charge, making them well-suited for urban parcel delivery. Collectively, the fleet is projected to prevent around 305 metric tonnes of tailpipe CO2 emissions annually compared to the diesel vans they replace.

The new EVs will serve parcel pickup and delivery operations in major Malaysian hubs, including Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Ipoh, Penang, and the Klang Valley. To support this transition, FedEx has also installed 41 charging stations—both AC and DC—at key locations nationwide.

This move underscores FedEx’s long-term commitment to sustainability, aligning with its global goal of achieving carbon-neutral operations by 2040 and transitioning to a fully electric pickup and delivery fleet within the same timeframe. It also supports Malaysia’s Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (2021–2030) and the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (2021–2025), both of which emphasize green growth and sustainable economic development.

FedEx has been steadily pioneering EV use in Malaysia. After rolling out its first two electric vans in the Klang Valley in May 2023, the company achieved a milestone in February 2024 by completing Malaysia’s first cross-border EV delivery to Singapore—an achievement recognized by the Malaysian Book of Records.

“The successful cross-border EV delivery between Malaysia and Singapore last year reinforced our confidence in the role electric vehicles can play in logistics,” said Tien Long Woon, Managing Director of FedEx Malaysia. “This latest EV fleet expansion is a meaningful step forward in embedding sustainability into our day-to-day operations. It reflects our belief that innovation and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand, and we’re proud to be part of the collective effort toward a low-carbon future in Malaysia.”

Beyond fleet electrification, FedEx is helping customers track and manage their own supply chain emissions through FedEx® Sustainability Insights, a cloud-based reporting tool that provides historical emissions data from eligible shipments. This enables businesses to make more informed, sustainable shipping choices.

These local efforts complement broader FedEx initiatives worldwide, including the purchase of more than three million gallons of blended sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)—the largest SAF procurement by a U.S. cargo airline at that airport. This milestone highlights FedEx’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint not only on the ground but also in the air, ensuring more sustainable global connectivity.

With its expanding EV fleet and ongoing investments in clean technologies, FedEx is solidifying its role as a leader in sustainable logistics while contributing to Malaysia’s transition toward a low-carbon future.
