Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) has taken a significant step forward in strengthening its supply chain capabilities through a newly established partnership with PKT Logistics (M) Sdn. Bhd. (PKT). The collaboration was formalized at the Signing Ceremony of the Framework Agreement for Transportation and Logistics Services on 5 August 2025, held at PKT’s iconic The Ship Campus in Batu Kawan, Penang.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Susanne Lehmann, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Malaysia, described the partnership as “more than just the formalization of a contract,” emphasizing its role as a milestone in VGM’s long-term growth journey.

PKT’s Group Chief Executive and Managing Director, Dato’ Seri (Dr.) Michael Tio, highlighted the company’s extensive track record in automotive logistics and reaffirmed its dedication to sustainability-driven practices. “Our priority is to ensure seamless, efficient, and reliable logistics operations that support Volkswagen’s regional supply chain. We are steadfast in our commitment to ESG principles and sustainable growth,” he said.

The partnership signals VGM’s commitment to enhancing inbound and outbound logistics efficiency while supporting Malaysia’s ambition of becoming a regional logistics hub. With PKT’s proven expertise, VGM aims to build a supply chain that is not only agile and resilient but also aligned with global best practices in efficiency, transparency, and customer experience.

PKT has long been recognized as a pioneer in green logistics. Its achievements include developing Malaysia’s first Green Building Index (GBI) Gold-certified warehouse and leading efforts in energy-efficient infrastructure. Beyond environmental initiatives, PKT actively advances the “Social” pillar of ESG by investing in human capital development.

Through its Peninsula College at The Ship Campus, PKT provides logistics and maritime-focused education programs that integrate academic learning with real-world industry experience under the Jom! Bekerja Sambil Belajar (JBSB) initiative. In addition, Yayasan PKT extends scholarships and bursaries to deserving students, reinforcing the company’s mission to make quality education more accessible and inclusive.

“We believe that nurturing human capital and building sustainable ecosystems are essential drivers of long-term value—for both our business and the wider community,” Tio added.

Volkswagen Group is one of the world’s largest automobile manufacturers, producing over nine million vehicles annually across 115 factories worldwide. In Malaysia, VGM oversees five brands: Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Scania, and MAN.

Since establishing local operations in 2005, VGM has played a pivotal role in advancing Malaysia’s automotive industry. The Group’s recent milestones include Porsche’s local assembly in 2021 and Audi’s production launch in Pekan earlier this year. Looking ahead, VGM is preparing to roll out local production of electric vehicles (EVs), further contributing to Malaysia’s green mobility ecosystem. By 2026, the company also plans to expand exports to ASEAN markets.

VGM’s operations span supply chain management, production planning, assembly, and compliance, supported by approximately 700 employees across its network of headquarters, suppliers, and dealers. The Group remains committed to integrating renewable energy in its production processes, ensuring compliance with national emissions standards, and delivering energy-efficient vehicles to both domestic and regional markets.

With the new partnership, VGM and PKT are set to deliver not only logistical efficiency but also a shared vision for sustainable, socially responsible, and future-ready growth in Malaysia’s automotive sector.
