As Malaysia commemorates Merdeka and Malaysia Day, Caltex Malaysia is marking a milestone of its own—89 years of serving communities and fueling progress across the nation. More than a corporate achievement, this anniversary is a tribute to the people whose passion and dedication have driven the brand forward for nearly nine decades.

“Simply put, Caltex’s history in Malaysia is a testament to excellence and innovation championed by our people,” said Leong Jee Wong, Country Chairman of Caltex Malaysia. “The team at Caltex Malaysia have always been regarded as family away from home, and we celebrate their milestones as our own.”

From its earliest days to today, Caltex Malaysia has built its success on a foundation of trust, resilience, and a shared vision of growth—values mirrored in the inspiring journeys of its people.

One such story is that of Vitini Josak, who joined Caltex as a fresh graduate at 22 and steadily rose through the ranks to become the company’s first female Terminal Manager at the age of 29—at a time when leadership roles were largely male-dominated.

“I was grateful for the trust given to me to lead a team and manage a terminal,” Vitini shared. Her achievement paved the way for greater gender diversity in the company, inspiring many young women along the way.

In 2022, she co-developed the Women in Operations program, creating a platform for female employees to share experiences and build confidence. The initiative even attracted male colleagues eager to better understand and support diversity in their teams.

For Steven Ho, Caltex Malaysia is more than a workplace—it’s a second home. Joining the company in 1998, Steven has spent over 27 years shaping its success across multiple departments. His groundbreaking work in introducing Polymer Modified Asphalt (PMA) technology to Malaysia stands as a testament to his innovative spirit, offering solutions tailored to the country’s climate challenges.

Now an NFR (Non-Fuel Revenue) Specialist, Steven continues to forge partnerships that deliver value, all while cherishing the strong bonds formed within the Caltex family.

“My colleagues have been with me through thick and thin. Some of them are like family,” he said.

The heartbeat of Caltex extends beyond its corporate offices to its retail partners—entrepreneurs who bring the brand’s promise to life in local communities.

Hisham bin Abd. Rahman and Norazni binti Ali embody this spirit at their station in Ketereh, Kelantan. Established in 1969 by Hisham’s late father, the station has been a community landmark for over five decades. Today, the couple remains committed to serving customers with the same warmth and integrity that defined its beginnings.

Similarly, brothers Manimaran and Maninadarajan have transformed a leap of faith in 2011 into a thriving family business of 10 Caltex stations across Malaysia. Their journey hasn’t been without challenges—from emergencies to adapting through the pandemic—but their resilience has kept them going.

“It gives us the ability to make a difference in people’s lives,” said Manimaran. “Simple gestures like assisting in fuelling up or providing a clean toilet go a long way.”

For nearly 90 years, Caltex Malaysia has been more than a fuel provider—it has been a trusted partner in progress, a source of innovation, and a pillar of community support. This Merdeka and Malaysia Day, the company reaffirms its commitment to its people, celebrating the values of commitment, innovation, and family that continue to define its culture.

“Our people are the driving force behind our success,” said Leong. “We will continue to invest in their growth, celebrate their milestones, and create opportunities for them to thrive.”

As it looks ahead, Caltex Malaysia remains steadfast in its mission to ‘Drive Happiness Further’—for its employees, partners, and communities—fueling the nation for generations to come.
