BYD Sime Motors has unveiled a bold three-pronged initiative that cements its leadership in Malaysia’s electric vehicle (EV) market: the announcement of a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) assembly plant in Tanjung Malim, the launch of the updated BYD SEAL, and the opening of Malaysia’s largest BYD 3S Centre in Balakong.

In a major step toward making electric mobility more accessible, BYD Malaysia confirmed plans to establish a state-of-the-art CKD facility in Tanjung Malim, Perak. Spanning 600,000 square meters, the plant is slated to commence production in 2026, underscoring BYD’s long-term commitment to Malaysia’s automotive industry.

Liu Xueliang, General Manager of BYD Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division, highlighted Malaysia’s strategic importance:“Malaysia has always been one of BYD’s most important markets in Southeast Asia. Today’s CKD announcement and the launch of the New BYD SEAL mark a new chapter in our journey. We are not only delivering innovative products but also investing in local assembly, talent development, and the future of Malaysia’s EV ecosystem.”

BYD Sime Motors also introduced the new BYD SEAL, an evolution of Malaysia’s best-selling electric sedan in 2024. Available in Premium and Performance variants, the model promises improved comfort, advanced technology, and segment-leading performance.

To celebrate, BYD is offering an exclusive launch package worth up to RM10,888 for the first 300 customers, which includes a complimentary wall charger, service package, and special rebate.

Further reinforcing its customer-centric approach, BYD Sime Motors, in collaboration with Wing Hin Ventures, unveiled Malaysia’s largest BYD 3S Centre in Balakong. The expansive facility spans 3,360㎡ over three floors and offers:

  • Two full showrooms showcasing the latest BYD models
  • 10 service bays for enhanced after-sales support
  • A 1,514㎡ dedicated after-sales area for maintenance and repairs

This opening brings BYD’s nationwide network to 36 outlets, ensuring comprehensive coverage and convenience for customers across the country.
