Isuzu Malaysia continues to reinforce its reputation as a leader in the pick-up truck segment, securing its position as the country’s second best-selling brand with impressive sales figures for the first half of 2025. The company reported a solid market share of 16 percent, driven by robust demand for the versatile and fuel-efficient Isuzu D-Max.
Achieving a best-ever quarterly performance in Q1, Isuzu Malaysia sold a total of 3,081 D-Max units in the first six months of the year. The overwhelming majority of buyers—over 85.8 percent—opted for the highly acclaimed 1.9-litre models. These variants stand out for their remarkable driving performance, excellent fuel economy, versatility, and comfort, attributes that have made them a favorite among pick-up truck enthusiasts and even passenger car owners looking to switch.
One standout variant is the 1.9-litre 4×4 Auto Premium, which combines an attractive price point with a suite of advanced safety and comfort features. This model notably entered the Malaysian Book of Records for the longest distance traveled on a single tank of fuel, underscoring its efficiency. It alone accounted for nearly one-fifth (18.6 percent) of total sales, highlighting its popularity among buyers.
Tomoyuki Yamaguchi, CEO of Isuzu Malaysia, remarked, “The strong results this year confirm the growing trend we have seen since last year, with more customers discovering the benefits of owning an Isuzu D-Max. We are committed to continuing this momentum by emphasizing the advantages of our trucks while delivering positive ownership experiences.”
Isuzu Malaysia currently boasts the widest selection of pick-up trucks in the market, offering nine distinct D-Max variants. From the rugged 1.9-litre Low Ride 4×2, designed as a dependable workhorse, to the multi award-winning X-Terrain, customers can choose the ideal truck tailored to their specific needs without compromising on efficiency or dependability.
Looking ahead, Chief Operating Officer Kenichi Kudo shared the company’s strategy for the remainder of the year: “Our key focus will be on enhancing product accessibility. We plan to reach out beyond traditional dealership locations to offer immersive experiences that highlight the unique benefits of our vehicles to a broader audience.”
