Global mobility platform inDrive has officially received clearance from Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport (MoT) and the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) to continue its ride-hailing services in the country after a thorough regulatory review. The announcement, made at a recent press conference, highlights inDrive’s dedication to working closely with Malaysian authorities to provide safe, fair, and compliant transportation solutions nationwide.

Govin Kumaar, Country Lead of inDrive Malaysia, expressed gratitude for the government’s endorsement, emphasizing the company’s unwavering commitment to regulatory compliance as a foundational operational principle. “This milestone allows us to continue supporting thousands of local drivers who depend on inDrive for a sustainable livelihood. With some of the lowest commission rates in the industry, 85% to 90% of driver earnings go directly back to them, empowering families and communities across Malaysia,” Kumaar noted.

inDrive’s unique ride-hailing model allows drivers and riders to negotiate fares directly, paired with lower platform fees, offering a more equitable alternative in the competitive mobility space. To maintain strict adherence to regulations, the company mandates that all drivers hold valid E-Hailing Vehicle Permits (EVP), Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licenses, and appropriate e-hailing insurance. Enhanced internal audits and ongoing collaboration with APAD ensure that driver documentation and compliance are continuously verified and updated.

Beyond compliance, inDrive is intensifying its efforts to enhance the driver and rider experience. The company is refining its onboarding and re-verification processes, expanding driver support programs, and introducing the inDrive Academy—a dedicated e-learning platform designed to provide continuous education and elevate service standards among drivers.

Looking forward, inDrive plans to launch a mobility initiative specifically aimed at improving access for persons with disabilities (OKU). This program embodies the company’s core philosophy of fairness and inclusivity, striving to ensure that differently-abled Malaysians can enjoy equitable transportation options through specialized features and community engagement.

Mark Tolley, APAC Director at inDrive, reiterated the company’s long-term vision: “We are committed to rebuilding with purpose and strengthening our presence in Malaysia’s mobility landscape. Healthy competition drives innovation, raises service standards, and offers Malaysians more choices in how they move, work, and earn. Malaysia remains a strategic market for us and a leader in ASEAN for innovation and inclusivity. We are here for the long term and ready to collaborate with regulators, drivers, and communities to create a mobility ecosystem that truly works for everyone.”
