In a historic move that reflects both confidence in Malaysia’s growth and a strong commitment to nurturing local talent, Bosch has appointed Darren Chan Chon Hoe as the new Managing Director of Bosch Malaysia, effective July 1, 2025. Chan becomes the first Malaysian to ever hold this top leadership position at the company, marking a significant milestone in Bosch’s journey in the country.

This new role is in addition to Chan’s current leadership portfolio as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Bosch Rexroth Malaysia, as well as Regional Technology Leader for Industrial Hydraulics at Bosch Rexroth ASEAN. With more than 20 years of industry experience, Chan is no stranger to navigating complex markets across Southeast Asia, having played key roles in electronics, semiconductors, automotive, and general industries.

“Taking on this role is a great honour, and I see it as an opportunity to contribute to Malaysia’s future,” Chan said. He expressed a strong commitment to deepening public–private partnerships and prioritizing talent development — strategies he believes are pivotal for raising the country’s gross national income per capita. “Combining Bosch’s century-long presence in Malaysia with my local insights, I aim to accelerate our impact both as a company and as a contributor to national progress.”

The appointment also means outgoing interim managing director Vijay Ratnaparkhe, Regional President of Bosch Southeast Asia, will fully resume his regional duties. Ratnaparkhe praised Chan’s suitability for the role, noting his deep industry knowledge and strong ties to the local market as essential assets to lead Bosch Malaysia into its next phase of growth.

Chan also highlighted Bosch’s strategic “glocal” positioning — combining a vast global network with a deep understanding of local markets. “Bosch operates around 490 subsidiaries in over 60 countries, allowing us to think globally while acting locally. That balance gives us a powerful edge.”

The announcement comes on the heels of a record-breaking year for Bosch Malaysia. In 2024, the company reported its highest-ever turnover of €1.466 billion (RM7.261 billion), reflecting a remarkable 31% increase from the previous year. Sales to third parties also saw a 16% rise, reaching €188 million (RM929.5 million).

With Chan at the helm, Bosch Malaysia is poised to further strengthen its position as a key player in the country’s industrial and technological landscape, while continuing to invest in local talent and innovation.
