Proton has lifted the curtain on the much-anticipated All-New Proton X50, offering a first look at what promises to be one of the most exciting SUV launches of 2025. Previewed to the Malaysian media, the latest iteration of Malaysia’s best-selling B-segment SUV arrives with a comprehensive suite of updates that elevate its design, intelligence, safety, and driving performance—further solidifying its position as the class leader.
Since its initial debut in October 2020, the Proton X50 has carved a dominant presence on Malaysian roads with over 134,000 units sold and five consecutive years as the top model in its segment. Now, the All-New X50 is set to redefine expectations once again.
The All-New Proton X50 features a dynamic redesign both inside and out. Its exterior is immediately distinguished by a sleeker front grille, a bold new bumper, quad exhaust tailpipes, a sportier rear spoiler, and stylish textured alloy wheels. A dual-tone colour scheme accentuates its athletic stance, while the introduction of a fresh Teal Bayou Green paint option joins returning favourites like Snow White, Passion Red, Jet Grey, and Armour Silver.
Inside, the cabin has been reimagined with premium soft-touch materials and a more driver-focused layout. A floating floor console, column-mounted shifters inspired by high-end vehicles, and a 72-colour rhythmic ambient lighting system create an upscale, immersive environment.
At the heart of the X50’s interior is a new 14.6-inch infotainment display—one of the largest in its class. Supporting both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the system is now further enhanced with voice recognition in Bahasa Melayu, making it more accessible and intuitive for Malaysian users.
The updated Proton Link 2.0 app allows drivers to control various vehicle functions remotely, including engine start and air-conditioning, while also offering real-time vehicle updates and service scheduling—all from their smartphone.
Incorporating advanced Level 2 ADAS features, the All-New X50 now adds a Rear Side Radar System (RSRS) to improve blind spot awareness, along with an improved Auto Park Assist (APA) system and a 360-degree HD camera with a 180-degree undercarriage view for greater visibility and convenience in tight spaces.
These technologies build upon the model’s established 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating, ensuring peace of mind for every journey.
Under the hood, the All-New Proton X50 is powered by the new i-GT 1.5 TD turbocharged engine, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Delivering 133 kW and 290 Nm of torque, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds—making it the fastest X50 yet. Despite the performance boost, the SUV also delivers a 4.7% improvement in fuel efficiency.
“With its innovation-led evolution, the All-New Proton X50 will reinforce the brand’s strong position while drawing in customers ranging from small families and young professionals to first-time buyers and tech-savvy urbanites,” said Zhang Qiang, Deputy CEO of PROTON Edar.
Proton will be hosting a series of pre-launch roadshows and activation events nationwide, offering early previews and test drive opportunities while accepting advance bookings.
