Porsche Malaysia gears up to deliver an electrifying weekend of motorsport action as the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA) heads to the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit for Rounds 5, 6, and 7. This much-anticipated Malaysian leg promises high-octane racing, the return of the endurance challenge, and the grand finale of the Porsche Esports Sprint Challenge Malaysia (PESCM) 2025 — uniting real-world speed with virtual precision.
Now in its 22nd season, the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia remains the pinnacle of one-make racing in the region. The Sepang weekend represents a crucial midpoint in the championship, featuring three adrenaline-fueled races: two intense sprint battles and the fan-favourite endurance race. All competitors pilot identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) cars, ensuring pure racing skill takes center stage on the challenging 5.543-kilometer circuit.
Christopher Hunter, CEO of Sime Darby Auto Performance, emphasises the spirit behind the event: “Porsche Carrera Cup Asia is more than just a race; it’s a celebration of motorsport culture and community. Motorsport is in our blood, and we’re proud to support both local and regional talents pursuing racing excellence, on the track and in the virtual realm.”
A highlight of the weekend is the endurance race, bringing a unique strategic dimension to the series. Sime Motors Racing will proudly field two cars: #17 driven by Malaysian talent Nazim Azman, and #38 piloted by British racer Hugo Ellis, a top contender from Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain. Both drivers are determined to capitalize on home support and clinch podium finishes, adding extra excitement for local fans.
Parallel to the physical races, the Porsche Esports Sprint Challenge Malaysia reaches its thrilling conclusion at Sepang. The top sim racers from three age categories—Junior Dreamers (10–14), Young Dreamers (15–17), and Driven Dreamers (18–25)—will compete on virtual replicas of the Sepang circuit, mirroring the real-life racing environment. This digital showdown showcases how sim racing is becoming a vital part of motorsport development.
The esports competition began with nationwide qualifiers and progressed through regional rounds at Porsche Centres across Malaysia. Finalists now face off in a high-pressure 20-minute sprint race following a qualifying session. Winners not only gain virtual glory but also earn a coveted real-world Porsche track driving experience, bridging the gap between virtual dreams and on-track reality.
Adding to the spectacle, fans can admire the Porsche 963 LMDh race car replica at Sepang — a machine set to compete in elite endurance races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Featuring a hybrid powertrain and advanced aerodynamics, the 963 embodies the cutting-edge technology and legacy that define Porsche’s motorsport pedigree.
Following Sepang, Sime Motors Racing will continue its pursuit of championship glory at the Bangsaen Street Circuit in Thailand, where Rounds 8 and 9 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia will take place in early July.
