In a remarkable display of progress and innovation, PRO-NET celebrates the first anniversary of the Proton e.MAS brand with a major milestone—its flagship model, the e.MAS 7, has become Malaysia’s best-selling electric vehicle in 2025. As of 31 May, 3,632 units have been sold, including 233 exported units, making the e.MAS 7 the fastest-selling EV in Malaysian automotive history, just five months after deliveries began in January.
This achievement caps off a groundbreaking year for Proton e.MAS, which was officially unveiled on 12 June 2024. The brand’s first model, the e.MAS 7, was introduced on 16 December 2024 and has quickly cemented its position as a leader in the nation’s fast-growing EV market.
Despite industry-wide pricing challenges, the e.MAS 7’s performance has remained resilient, a testament to consumer confidence in Proton’s quality, engineering, and long-standing legacy. “This strong show of support from Malaysians is incredibly encouraging,” said Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET. “It validates our strategy, strengthens belief in the Proton e.MAS brand, and reaffirms the value of investing in homegrown innovation.”
From its earliest days, Proton e.MAS has championed a people-first approach. Before a single car hit the road, Malaysians were already shaping the brand’s identity through a nationwide naming contest that drew over 25,000 entries. The public’s overwhelming engagement reflected the growing excitement for a new era of electric mobility, led by a national brand.
This approach built on the successful launch of the smart #1 by PRO-NET—an EV division under PROTON—who was then entrusted with building a fully homegrown EV brand Malaysians could call their own.
Proton e.MAS is not just building cars—it’s building a future-ready ecosystem to support EV adoption across the country. Within its first year, the brand has integrated over 2,500 public charging points into its digital platforms, including the e.MAS app and the in-car Integrated Live Charging Map, achieving more than 90% nationwide coverage.
To enhance customer experience and accessibility, 44 Proton e.MAS dealerships have been appointed, with 32 already operational. Additionally, 24 3S (Sales, Service & Spare Parts) centres are up and running, with six more on the way, ensuring support for customers wherever they are.
Further solidifying its long-term commitment, construction is underway for a dedicated Proton e.MAS manufacturing facility in Tanjung Malim. The company is also collaborating with local vendors to boost domestic component manufacturing, fostering national industry growth.
As a key player in supporting the National Energy Transition Roadmap, PRO-NET is determined to help drive Malaysia toward net-zero emissions by 2050. With the e.MAS 7 leading the charge and the upcoming e.MAS 5 set to expand accessibility, Proton e.MAS aims to make intelligent, connected, and sustainable mobility a national standard.
“The future is electric, and it’s proudly ours to build together,” said Mr. Zhang. “We are grateful to all Malaysians for their trust and belief in Proton e.MAS. As we step into our second year, our focus remains on innovation, accessibility, and supporting every Malaysian in the transition to cleaner mobility.”
To thank its loyal customers, PRO-NET has launched the Peace of Mind campaign in celebration of the brand’s first anniversary. Running from 1st June to 1st July 2025, the campaign offers existing e.MAS owners a complimentary 32-point vehicle inspection, including checks on brake pads, battery, electronics, lighting, tires, wipers, air conditioning, and software systems.
Owners are encouraged to contact their nearest service centre to schedule their inspection and enjoy a worry-free EV ownership experience.
