smart Malaysia is charging ahead in the electric vehicle (EV) landscape with its dynamic showcase at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, hosted by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii). This year’s event marks a major milestone for the brand, with the debut public preview of the all-new smart #5 and the official opening of bookings for the exclusive smart #1 BRABUS Limited Edition.
At the heart of smart’s showcase is the smart #5, a premium mid-size electric SUV engineered for adventure and comfort. This cutting-edge model blends rugged, all-terrain styling with intelligent technology and a luxurious interior — reflecting the brand’s commitment to shaping the future of premium electric mobility.
“The smart #5 represents a bold evolution of what an electric SUV can be,” said Mr. Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET. “It brings together premium design, intelligent technology and a sense of adventure, all crafted for Malaysians who want more from their driving experience.”
Visually, the smart #5 impresses with its upright stance, short overhangs, and signature smart design elements, including a panoramic halo roof and frameless doors. Thoughtful details like dual-tone side mirrors, wheels with floating logos, and hidden easter eggs elevate its aesthetic appeal.
Inside, the SUV offers a transformative driving and passenger experience. Features like a one-button Comfort Mode, oak wood accents, 256-color ambient lighting, and a king-size fold-flat seat configuration bring both luxury and practicality to life. The smart #5 offers up to 1,530 litres of cargo space, a 72-litre front trunk, and 34 innovative storage compartments — ideal for today’s versatile lifestyles.
Under the hood, the smart #5 is built on advanced EV architecture, equipped with a 100kWh battery capable of delivering up to 590 km of range (WLTP). With 800V fast-charging technology, drivers can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 15 minutes. The SUV also includes multiple off-road modes — Sand, Snow, Mud, Rock, and Adaptive — and a 3.3kW V2L outlet for powering electronics during outdoor adventures.
On the tech front, smart OS runs on the AMD V2000 chip with Unreal Engine graphics, displayed across a 25.6-inch AR head-up display and dual 13-inch AMOLED screens. The AI-powered voice assistant “Leo” and a 20-speaker Sennheiser Signature Sound System provide an immersive and intuitive driving experience.
Also making headlines is the smart #1 BRABUS Limited Edition, now open for booking. This high-performance EV is a result of smart’s exclusive partnership with BRABUS Kuala Lumpur. Sporting a distinctive BRABUS aerodynamic kit, lowered sport springs, and bold 19-inch Monoblock Z wheels, the model redefines sporty electric driving. The interior is equally dynamic with BRABUS-red accents, aluminium pedals, and backlit branding throughout.
Official pricing for the BRABUS Limited Edition will be announced by June 2025, but early birds at the Autoshow will enjoy exclusive perks. These include priority test drives for the smart #5, a complimentary BRABUS bodykit for selected #1 BRABUS bookings, and generous incentives like a 10% cash rebate and four years of free service for smart #1 and #3 models.
smart Malaysia’s showcase highlights not just new models but a lifestyle shift — one where innovation, design, and environmental responsibility intersect. By pioneering collaborations, such as with BRABUS, and crafting vehicles that meet the demands of modern life, smart is carving a bold new path for EVs in Malaysia.
